barcadibreezer 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2012 Here's how our kitchen countertop looks like with our hob, hood and Blanco Metra 9 sink! The original plan was to do a build-in sink in the colour of our countertop but we decided not to spend so much $$ on it so that we could use the $$ elsewhere. Am so glad to find this sink in the colour which matches our counter top! And it costs a third of the price of a build-in! Even his uncle commented that our sink is nice! There is a single flaw in the kitchen area though. There is no HOT water!! And we bought a mixer which costed us $100+! What to do? We didn't check with our contractor beforehand if the hot water was available to the kitchen area. So people, if you want hot water in your kitchen, remember to ask your contractor first!Hi kenjo,Nice sink u have! May I know where u get it from and how much? Your counter top using solid surface? The color really 100% matching?
kenjo 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2012 Hi barcadibreezer, we got the sink from Hoe Kee... thinks it cost us $400+. And yes, solid surface. I think it matches 100% though the two are made of two different materials. Thank God everything matched!Hi kenjo,Nice sink u have! May I know where u get it from and how much? MamaO 1 Report post Posted September 5, 2012 Our new place is really a maze! We were out there checking the lights installation and we couldn't find each other when we were at two different points... with Ken was @ the living area while I, was @ the MBR toilet area. As we were blocked by the fridge cum TV console area, we could hear but could not see each other. When I walked to the parquet walkway, he walked to the tiled side. When he walked to the parquet side, I was at the tiled side. It was like the scene in the hindi movie whereby the main leads were dancing round the tree. Anyways, we were very happy with our buys! Here they are... LIVING + DINING + SINK COUNTERDon't know why my electrician put a piece of newspaper on my dining area light. When we removed the newspaper, we found that the plastic covering one of the shade is slightly torn. Not a big problem cos the plastic could be remove. Am so glad our eletrician is so nice to help us to protect it with newspapers. But... when we looked from afar, we found that the lamp shade looked crooked. Drove all the way to the shop we bought the light from and asked them. Turned out that it is not a big issue... just need to fix it properly. Yet to get it done. Hope it can be fixed! It better be cos this is the most expensive light in our home!MBR + STUDYBABY'S ROOM Love the sweet colours on this light. When we showed baby this light, she was so happy to see it!TOILET + BOMB SHELTER These lights are actually the same... just that they are different in size. SERVICE YARD The previous one we bought was too thin and will not be able to cover the hole on the ceiling so we went to the shop to exchange for this one. We had to pay more $ to get this one.kenjo, where did u get the whole set of the sink and cabinet for ur service balcony? wat is the material of the cabinet? kenjo 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2012 Hi MamaO, we got this from Hoe Kee as well... it is a set... abt $300+. According to the sales lady, it is made of PVC.But our contractor said that it is actually plywood or cardboard inside so it may not last a long time. kenjo, where did u get the whole set of the sink and cabinet for ur service balcony? wat is the material of the cabinet? kenjo 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) While baby was dozing off, we decided to drop by our new place to check out how the lights will look like in the night. ALL LIGHTS @ LIVING + DINING + KITCHENThis is a love / hate picture. Check out the kitchen sink counter lights. The colour is different from my dining and living area. I chose the wrong colour!! I only realised this mistake after the lights were up! In my earlier post about my lights selection, I mentioned that I chose the extreme right... but after thinking about it... I actually chose the centre one. Sigh... It was made worst as it is LED which means I can't even change the bulb... If I want to change, the whole thing must go. That is my $90 mistake! Does it look weird? Pls give me your opinions. DINING LIGHTReally love the glow from this light. My favourite of them all. Not to mention, the most expensive of them all. WALKWAY :: PARQUET SIDEWill show the rest of the lights in a later post! Nite! Edited September 5, 2012 by kenjo
lannywin 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 Hi Kenjo! The PH5 looks beautiful! The rest of the house is also shaping up really nicely! For the counter lights, they seem to be 'cool white' in colour, unlike the rest which is 'warm white'? The difference is quite noticeable, but I don't think it looked weird or anything, just that it emphasizes a separation between your kitchen and the rest of the living room...While baby was dozing off, we decided to drop by our new place to check out how the lights will look like in the night. kenjo 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 (edited) Thanks lannywin! I love the PH5 but it gave us a little problem cos it looks crooked when not fixed properly. We finally got it done... I guess that's becos the top part that holds the rest of the lamp, the "blades" like not long enough. I guess replicas are not done as well as the real thing. Love its glow though!Anyways I was also thinking the same way as you abt the segregation part. Don't think we will switch on ALL three at a go right?Actually I tot I chose warm white... cos it was stated on the receipt w/w. Sigh... my fault for not checking properly. I have to live with it for 4 years or until the day it blows. hahahaHi Kenjo! The PH5 looks beautiful! The rest of the house is also shaping up really nicely! kenjo 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 Oh different ar? Tot it's the same. Oops!! Just realised that our MBR and Study's lights are also cool white. I may change the MBR's to warm white as well. But for study, will retain the original light color cos need a brighter area to work with. The T5 on top of wardrobe are also warm white.I think you need to ask yourself what you are going to use each room for and what is the mood you wanna set for each area. For me, I need a brighter light for the study so that I could do my work properly and won't feel sleepy. heheheThanks again for your compliments! anyway no la different!! your layout is the one with the bigger kitchen =) mine is the narrow one.. but ur layout is really nice~~ Loving the way ur house looks with the lights on! so nice!! other than ur downlights - are everything else warm white? including the florescent above the wardrobe? could I ask if warm white would be too dark or is it fine? ya.. as what u were saying - u can switch them on accordingly to ur needs? or u can tape cellophane paper to give a colour to the light =X (kidding kidding - sorry bad time for jokes =X) when r u moving in? =D
kenjo 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 This is the part 2 of the lights for our home.BEDROOMS + STUDYMay consider chaging the light in the MBR to warm white. TOILETS :: T5 LIGHTS ONLYThese lights weren't in the plan earlier. But since there is an additional switch for 2 lights in the toilets, my contractor suggested installing them. The L-shaped box panels were changed too.BOMB SHELTER + TOILETSSERVICE YARD
