Yuki&jason 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) Finally, we are 2 weeks to collecting our keys for our 4 room flat. Thanks that we have a previous home that we sold, with the proceeds able to substantially cover more than half of our new home.At a costs of more than $400k, it is really expensive for a 30+ old HDB. And the size is so much smaller than our previous home, 92sqm compared to 103sqm. It is the 1st house that we view, but it is chosen because it is just 2 storey down from where my mother-in-law lives. And also just across the road where our fourth aunt stays. To make it better, our third aunt is also moving from the west to the east, 5 mins drive from our new home. But haz, soon we will have weekend mahjong sessions as all of us are mahjong apprentice!! But the 4 room flat condition is worse than ever, now still got spend so much on renovation. ejszaka 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2011 Finally, we are 2 weeks to collecting our keys for our 4 room flat.Uploaded with ImageShack.usI like your layout. It's 4NG? Will you be tearing down one bedroom to get an extended space for the living room? It would be very nice and spacious.
Yuki&jason 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2011 After a wait of more than a month, our contractor finally emailed us the quotation plus drawing of our house.Still waiting for our 3D drawing, hoping he will really email to us!We have opt for a modern contemporary concept. But with limited budget, there is really not much we can do.As our living hall is very narrow, only 3.6m wide, and with the storeroom right in between our living hall and the kitchen. The place seems very cramp. We decide to hack down the storeroom to create a open concept to make the place more spacious and brighter. But we will need to build a full height cabinet to replace the storeroom, as we have a lot of items shifted from our old home. Unfortunately, it will be very costly. And we have told our contractor to extend our living hall into the kitchen, to have our dining area place in the living hall.A headache that we are still having is whether to buy more wallpaper as our living hall wall are divided into 2 by the entrance of the 2 common room. Wonder whether did the flat architect possess any architectural cert? But what to do, $ no enough, got to make do with it! haiz:(Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Maybe can push the dining area further back into the kitchen, shorten the kitchen, so that you can free up more space for a slightly longer living area? My Mom's kitchen in Bedok is also like yours... HUGE!! Hahaha.

advancer 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2011 (edited) Hey i am suggesting that u hack down the wall in your master toilet as u wanna step into the ''dry area'' first which is your toilet bowl area rather than the ''wet area'' shower area and move your basin against the wall instead.btw what is your block number in bedok? Didn't know bedok 4ng got this kind of layout... Edited September 9, 2011 by advancer

Didn't know bedok 4ng got this kind of layout...Yah, that's an excellent idea. Cos we access the dry toilet area a lot more than the shower area. Shower at most twice a day... but pee and poo more than that... hehehehe.
