calliecats 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2011 (edited) I have been reading the blogs for awhile now as I started looking for a home early this year. Had shortlisted some areas & I must have viewed over 35-40 flats. Then... the right one came along (ie. price & location ideal-esp. the dreaded COV)! Had gone for my 1st appointment last month & 2nd appointment coming up soon. It's all very exciting!! I've also been talking to some IDs & contractors but so far the IDs have quoted me around $50K-$60K, contractors around $35K-$40K & that excludes some things like WIW, granite table & island top, mirrors etc. As I already know what I want, I'm thinking to skip the ID route & just go for a good contractor that can communicate & manage the project for me well & help me to save some money. I'm still figuring out how to post pictures here & I will post the floor plan & some pics of the house as soon as I get it sorted out. Here's the floor plan: Edited August 27, 2011 by calliecats
Rover 0 Report post Posted August 27, 2011 Welcome to RT. Like wat u said, since u oredi hv in mind wat to do, getting a contractor will save u some amt of $. But juz be caution on the time u gotta spent in monitoring and also the precise space planning. Of cos, end of the day is still to be able to engage a good contractor. I checked the price but it's very expensive around $1200-$1300 including installation. Any one has contacts? Thanks so much!
Edlyn 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2011 hi callie,Your photo looks pretty messy now...with lots of furniture...... I'm looking for contractor too....apparently.... i got some quotes from ID for my unit in bukit merah... they have some packages going for $18888-$28888 but it does not really fit what i want and they give free bonus.......would prefer them to just give best price without bonuses...anyway, we eventually pay for it, isn't it? They tried very hard to ask me to commit on the painting job first...... managed to shake them off...read a lot about some bad experience here... so gotta be extra extra careful....Some of my friends are in construction line and they said its easy to manage home reno as it is much smaller scale.... see if I can get them to manage for me....maybe more saving..... Will keep you posted. All the best to your contractor sourcing yaI saw some digital locks too...... love the samsung one that can do fingerprint and key pad number...... they have those using access card and I'll skip that cos it could be misplaced easily. They quoted me about $1350 including installation.... still sourcing for a cheaper source too ..hihihi..... Lets keep each other posted if you find one...... calliecats 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2011 **Rondy:So clever! Are you a contractor or property agent by any chance? **Edlyn:All the best to you too!Have received some more quotes from a few more contractors & I think I might have made my choice As the sellers asked for a 1-2 weeks extension as they are doing a contra at their end (due to lapse time the CPF monies gets credited back to their account to purchase their new flat), I've agreed & will probably decide on the contractor within the next few days so they can apply for the HDB approval for hacking etc. Will be keeping all RT-ers posted! Have a good holiday, everyone.
