Price Estimate For Storage Heater Incl Installation

Hi all,

My current storage heater is leaking and I want to replace it.

The current heater is a Rheem 38 liter but 15 or 25 liter will be enough for the new one.

Unfortunately the contractor will need to remove a small part of the false ceiling over the sink to access the space.

My question is what would be a reasonable price for doing this job:

- New storage heater 25L, just a regular brand

- Redo any piping work for connection

- Redo lowered false ceiling section (appr. 2 x 3 feet)

I realize that it is difficult to give an exact estimate, but just a rough estimate would be very helpful.

Today contractor who visited quoted me 1140SGD (490 for heater Alpha 25L, ceiling 450, install 200), which sounded absolutely completely ridiculous to me (hopefully it *is* ...)

I got my Joven upright heater 25L for $225. Quite a popular brand here, contractor quoting you $490 for the heater alone is absolutely overpriced. You can go to the discounted electrical shops like Kong Tai, Hong Liang, GAB all these would be able to get you a price similar to what I paid. Can even cash and carry back since it is so light.

You might as well buy it separately and just get someone to install for you.

I paid $299 for a 30 litres AO Smith. You may want to walk in to any shop selling taps or sanitary wares and likely they carry storage heaters.

I think you might want to consider checking with adamas. They can arrange installation.
