Are There Alternatives To Cove Light Concept That Provide The Same Effect?

hope can seek some advice here

wife likes the idea of cove lights at curtain area....that illuminates the curtains a little....to provide some ambiance.

I am thinking whether it is a good idea

my main considerations are

1) lights will be near window. it means insect magnet?

2) the L-shaped area will become dusty after sometime right? any solutions to prevent this?

I googled for alternatives....

but definitely not cheap....

so wondering if anyone here managed to do something to have the cove lighting effect but without cove lights? dunno if my question makes sense

one solution is to install the curtain inside a recess and install the lights above the curtain firing downwards. The box conceals the light source and you get similar effect to covelight at that area. No dust & insect problem at all.

he means u need leave a gap but also means u cant install the tack onto the ceiling since u install light above the ceiling u can still change curtains but change light mafan nia .. hehe .. nunless u leave big big gap for recess area ..

light install first then curtains tacks .. must leave ample space for the light and curtain

sorry for the caveman illustration. Basically it is just a bult box above the curtain that houses the light, the light can be either cornice light or shining down on the curtain or both.

in my previous house, the ex-owner do the L-box and put those old type of light bulb (those long tube type) in the L-box, and have some small lights below the L-box, the cost should not be expensive. But, frankly, i do not like that. Most of the time we just on the tube light, and not on all as want to save electricity. As the light is in the L-box for reflection, the light is not strong enough. As for those small yellow light bulbs around, we didn't on at all as very heaty. I would advise you to be practical and use downlight, which is cheap, save electricity, nice, and better:
