Need Help With Extensive Renovations Under Way - Flooring

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

We have what I would call pretty extensive renovations on our 3 bedroom penthouse underway (about 1800-1900sqft on main living level plus roodtop)

To me it's still a long way from being done.. Still have:

- More electrical work to be done

- all carpentry (lots of it) kitchen, walkin wardrobe, bathrooms, spare room wardrobe

- Tiling in Kitchen

- HEAPS of outsoor roofing/decking and planter box's

- 3 sets of Bi-Fold doors

- windows & Doors

- Ceiling is un finished

- lighting

All of the above means the workers need to bring in equipment, materials and eneter/leave through the front door..

As you can see in the pic's it's a mess still but they have already started laying our tiles from the front door into living room..

I just can't understand why they have started this process so early.. the tiles are surely going to be damaged or get scratched... We had 9 workers on site yesterday..

So my question - is it normal to lay living room tiles this early???

We have one ID managing this process and he assures us this is normal but I remember him telling me the tilers are grumpy because they need to be at another site already.

I feel like he is rushing them to get this done..

To me this is one of the last things they should be doing...

Thoughts?

Floor tiling is the wettest and dirtiest of all works.

Shd be done as early as possible.

Many things rely on floor to be in first, such as door measurement.

Pix show the works look correct sequence.

Hi Robos4, the floor must be done up first. And I believe you have talked to the tilers and electrician what you want already right?

So that they know how to conceal the wires and points properly. Then after done, we will carry on with all the rest.
