Start renovation before HDB 2nd appointment

I need to do some renovation work in the resale flat which i purchased. Can someone advice whether i need to wait till the second appointment to be over and the owner to be transferred in my name to start the renovation process? can i pass the floor plan to firms before that and get quote from them?

at least a completion is signed and then the unit is belong to you, whereby then you start reno. Unless the seller don't mind hack work going around, but could ended free reno for them if deal got lapse

No harm to get as much quote as u want from id/contractor.

Name legally transferred ON 2nd appt.

Reno application to HDB, till approval, takes approx 1 week, depend on complexity of works.

Take time to negotiate materials/design/pricing etc....should have started as early as once after 1st appt.

You can start passing floor plans to firms to get quote, as long as you have the floor plan. No restriction on this.

For the starting of reno, its only after you're done with your completion appointment, meaning to say, you're the rightful owner and have gotten the keys from HDB during your completion appointment.

Pls don't start renovation before 2nd appointment bcos by doing that you are renovating other ppl's unit.

To play safe, start the actual renovation after 2nd appointment.

In the event that both parties agree to start the renovation before the 2nd appointment, there is a letter of indemnity to be filled up. Check out with your contractor or your agent. But if the deal falls through, it's foc reno for the owner.

Funny leh, this forum seems much quiet recently. Markets quiet, forum also quiet???.

A bit boring, same question has been asked again & again, thought I could be quite long-winded at time, hope this is my last response to such question:

1. You can start reno before 2nd app, provided the seller has moved out AND most importantly, both seller & buyer jointly sign the idemnity form.

2. Reno application to HDB usually take abt 1 wk for approval.
