Air Con Condensor Dripping Water Problem

Recommended Posts

It seems the understanding about aircon tray is kinda controversial here.

Years ago, my downstairs neighbour complained my aircon water drip onto them. So, I installed a stainless tray (back then it seems that was according to HDB guidelines)

Last year, NEA officers said not supposed to instal tray as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. So, I was confused.

Today, as my upstairs neighbour didnt install a tray, their water kept dripping down onto MY tray. And when it drips, it cause a nuisance "tok tok" noise every night!! So, I checked HDB website to see what's the guidelines - install tray or NOT to install tray to solve water dripping problem from aircon.

guess what i found: see below

http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/HomeRenoGuidelinesAirCon?OpenDocument

Advisory Notes On Air-conditioner Tray

No tray or receptacle should be placed beneath and/or on top of any air-conditioning unit so as not to create a condition favourable for mosquito breeding. NEA may take legal action against anyone who creates a condition favourable to the breeding of mosquitoes.

Thus, it seems the rule now is CANNOT install tray!

So, how ???

Glad to see that all of you are so consider. My upstair neighbour drag their chairs and now even table last night at around 1am. I couldn't sleep whole nite. This morning ard 6am someone pour water down into our air-con. We suspect its them. We have no choice now but to take it as we have to stay there the next 5 years. The more complains we made to HDB/police, the more nasty they are. It suppose to be a new and happy home but now it's a nightmare. How can they turn so ugly just because their air-con dripping.

From my experience, HDB and Police are useless when comes to noise nuisance caused by neighbours above! Police say it's HDB's area to take care. HDB say call Police to come. Personally, I feel this is strictly HDB to handle since we are living in HDB flats and they should deal with such matters, not police. And they shouldn't say they dont come after 6pm one. Otherwise, how to 'catch' the problem? They just dont want to carry out their rightful duties after office hours. IT IS THEIR JOB TO INVESTIGATE YOUR COMPLAINT....BE IT AFTER THEIR OFFICE HOURS!

I'd suggest you go to CMC (community mediation centre), dont waste time complaining to HDB or police.

Your neighbours CANNOT dont open doors for authorities to investigate also. See the HDB website link:

http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10324p.nsf/w/HomeRenoGuidelinesAirCon?OpenDocument

hope this helps. Dont give up your fight towards inconsiderate neighbours!

Like what some poeple have suggest, put a mat on your own compressor so it will mute the dripping sound.

If they don't co-operate, I would go turn off their supply.

Yo people, my aircon was installed more than a year back by the same company represented by Tim and Aron. After installation, one of the FCU keeps leaking. Aron send 3 groups of different people to resolve the issue but have not resolve it. It keeps leaking every now and then. (talk about trusting their expertise and professionalism).....I have emailed Aron multiple times and he just keeps sending people over to look and see.

The worse thing is that when the one year warranty is over, they suggested to shift the FCU higher to achieve better drainage. But to do that, they need to charged me because they say my warranty over. (like telling me, take it or leave it attitude). As I just want the leaking problem to go away, I agreed to pay, thus work was done.

Just barely one hour after they shift the FCU, it LEAKED!!! What the ****. The workers came back and tell me all sorts of reasons. My aircon now is still leaking and they now tell me it is aircon sweating and suggested to get Mitsubishi down. But I have to pay another amount to Mitsubishi becoz TIM told me warranty is over for the FCU! What the F%6K!

All of you beware! They are professional in marketing and extorting money from you. They are not professional in their dealings when things happen. If they were professional, they would have suggested to shift the FCU and to get Mitsubishi to have a look during the warranty period and not after warranty period. Also note that their workforce are subcontractors who will only do the work if they get paid the company. My installation guy was one subcon, the leaking issue was resolve by two other groups (who tell me that it is not their fault but it is the group who installed it....)

So buyer beware!!!
