shalody 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2011 Just bought a franke sink and realized it was badly dented when opened for installation! My contractor has said that it was already dented when opened but franke has refused to have it replaced. I did check the sink when it was delivered but the corners were wrapped in styrofoam within the covered plastic so I didn't check this 4 corners (95% of the sink was checked). What could have caused such a dent in your opinion? Would a franke sink made of steel be dented by being dropped or scratched against a wall or something? I tend to believe my contractor as they were there when i received the sink and saw that I've checked it. If they had damage it I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have attempt to say it was already dented when opened as I would have easily seen through it.What can I do in this instance??? http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/4229/franke.jpg
neubie 2 Report post Posted July 30, 2011 suspect it was already damaged when delivered to u. was there any visible damage to that piece of corner styrofoam and carton used to protect that damaged corner? if no visible damages then maybe a case of factory defect. drittz 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2011 I didnt look closely at the styrofoam as i was busy looking for scratches and dent in the bowl itself. Now that the contractor has opened it the strofoam would obviously have been damaged. The dent itself looks deep enough not to have been easily caused by a simple knock. I suspect it might be a factory defect as well but the distributor has insist that they check every piece of sink that comes in before being sent out. What can i do as a re-course now that its been fully paid for?
