If they are expensive, then you should consider putting a pillow protector 1st before u put on the pillow covers? at least u can wash the covers and the protector when they get dirty.Sometimes the brown patchy stuff is due to you sleeping on the pillows when your hair is not completely dry, or due to sweat..
