Renovating Condo - Decision Needed On Glass Wall - Pics Included

Hi All,

About to renovate my penthouse condo, it's a very large living room (about 10M x 7M) we are going for a very clean, modern simple look.. Everything has been decided already except this exisiting wall (can anyone say UGLY).

Kitchen wall to living is going to be knocked down and we are going open plan.. There will be enough light once reno's are done but this wall is important for morning sun.. It's the only place where morning sun will come through (which i what we want)

Problem tho - there is an ugly stair well behind it going to our roof top garden..

Best decision so far:

- Built up about 1.1M high with new brick wall, build cupboard and granite benchtop on inside, rest of the space put two large panes of glass (and maybe go with plantation shutters). Plus re do fence railing to glass on the outside..

Any ideas to those creative people out there???

How about replacing totally with a Sliding door?

Unfortunately as you can see in the first picture, the concrete stair well is hard up against the lower part of the glass brick wall Making it impossible to have sliding doors really.

Thats already my worst case decision (if you read my first post )

Definately need glass for sunlight..

Think we will stay with brick up a 1M high and 2 large panes of glass then

This was the finished result:

very happy with this as it allows great breeze and light through!
