ironstarz 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2011 Recently just renovated my place, and saw some paint mark on the door, so i took thinner and wiped the paint off, the next thing i knew was that there was some kind of smudge stain left behind , not sure is it because of the thinner or what. Can anyone advise what should i use to clean these stain off ? Tried using vinegar already but does not work.

ibelieveindevil 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2011 omg, obviously, TS, u make a big mistake to remove paint from doors surface using thinner, since thinner are suppose to be used on marbles, tiles, glass and metalic surfaces which do not have any effect on it. thinner do dissoves plastic and thus it will leave a bad marking. thinner is a very strong organic solvent and should be avaoided if possible. try to use water, then alcohol, den lighter fluid, den nail polisher and finally thinner in that order as the dissolving power get stronger. of course, if the damage is done den, too bad....u can do very few things, obviously either to rewax the lamination, which would cost u a boom, or to well, leave it as it is. after a few months, u will realised that even good new door aged under sun light pretty fast and the marking will be very faint.
