My New Home - Serangoon 4 Room

Recommended Posts

Thanks for providing more advice.

@Idealistic, i just read your Tblog. Your floor plan is similar to mine, except your storeroom is in between MBR and next room. You staying at Serangoon area as well?

Your kitchen was what i originally had in mind. to have a standing table with the exact direction.

I discussed with some of my friends. They highlighted that storeroom is very impt.. where will i keep my spare chairs, luggage bags, mahjong tables, ladder etc etc.... haiz.. discussed with my wife and came up with the design with the storeroom intact. She's a bit disappointed that there isn't any standing table at the kitchen. Any views if i can squeeze a standing table with such a narrow kitchen entrance?

Initial design with standing table at kitchen entrance.

Newest design with storeroom intact.

finally i have spoken to a few ID/Contractors and told them what i wanted over the weekend.

After talking to them, i realised some differences:

Differences between Contractors and IDs

1. Contractors don't provide much design advice. They require more of your input and they are more reluctant to go for something different. Of course, they'll be much cheaper than IDs.

2. IDs don't like to hear too much specifications on what you want. They only take in the most critical and then draw out their designs. They don't like to follow your detailed specifications.

Now i'm waiting for contractors to come back with quotations and IDs to come back with their designs. Very tiring weekend.

Here's some of the photos of the current condition:

almost forgot to mention that i got Long Tian Xiang Shi Fu to help look at the fengshui...

a very friendly grandpa with standing long eyebrows

He gave me 2 restrictions and one conflicted with my cove light... bye bye cove light.

Today went down to IT fair and bought 2 TVs!

Samsung UA-46D6000 for my living room

Samsung UA-40D5000 for my MBR

TVs are really cheap during IT fairs!

Oh. One more neighbor in Serangoon. Your layout is quite similar to mine.

Don't worry, your store room may be hackable like mine as well if it is sandwich polyfoam wall.

All the best for your reno! :)
