homenewbie 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2011 Hi I'm currently getting my flooring done in my apartment. The contractors have hacked away all the old tiles and are now preparing to lay the new homogeneous tiles I have selected.According to the project manager, they will not be cement screeding the floor to even out all the common areas (living dining and kitchen), but instead they will start to lay the tiles by putting cement on each tile and laying it on top of the raw floor, concealed piping and wiring immediately, and doing the water levelling on the spot as they go along. As far as i know, most flooring contractors will do a cement screed to even out the entire area first before they lay the tiles to ensure the entire area is flat and even. Is this a new method of laying tiles? Which is a better option too, dry lay or wet lay? And which method will result in a floor that is more even?My concern is that I do not want to end up with a floor that is uneven, that the furniture will not sit on flat and I have to stuff paper under the legs to stabalize them. All advice and comments are very much appreciated. Thanks!
