When I think 50s style bathrooms, I think of squatting toilets and a single dim bulb hanging from a wire but dun think you are going for a very authentic look right? You got your sinks, WC n fixtures already? Can share what you bought?
Ely1 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2011 LOVE your inspiration board, and welcome to RT!I love vintage-retro-chic (The Husband not too keen on the shabby chic) so am going to be watching your progress! From your inspiration board, I think it's going to be a hit on RT!When I think vintage/retro bathrooms, I think pedestal sinks, wall sconces And of course, the infamous checkered black/white floors, and clawfoot tubs <3- Ely

You got your sinks, WC n fixtures already? Can share what you bought?heehe... we're planning to use single bulb hanging from the ceiling but with an industrial twist which is also part of our theme. As for squatting toilet.. our excuse for not having that is that there were toilet bowls then too ;pWe're now sourcing for the WC & fixtures.. planning to get simple critzo / baron toilets (boh budget liao), not sure abt the taps yet as we've yet to settle on the sinks... as for the shower head... we're still in a discussion abt whether to go for a rain system or the grohe icon (we thot it kinda looks 50s/ 60s in its own right) ... have to confess that so far the toilet is more industrial like then 1950s....the only sink we can confirm now is for the kitchen and it's the old school Belfast sink.we're trying hard to confirm as many things as we can this weekend... Main focus will be on that section as we both lurve to cook. And we're getting broke from this whole home transaction. (our 2 common rooms will be left in limbo for now... will prob end up as my sewing studio and his jamming studio -> our other hobbies)hopefully the end result of this reno will not disappoint us or u.... will try to update more tmr... I don't have a light ref. for the one in the kitchen, but it's of a similar feel to the black light in the kitchen mood board! Glad to be of help! Have you been to Grafunkt & Air Division? They have a few TV consoles n pieces that have a bit of a retro-feel to me...Let me know if you have more than enough places to shop at k? Think I've been rather poisoned by the retro "bug" ever since I saw Liebingsg's reno feature in Home n Decor. Since my new place has a clean minimalist look that both SO n I likes, so participating in your reno blog is prob the closest I can get to scratching that retro itch of mine. Love your pics and moodboards so far. Can't wait to see the end-result of the reno. Update:Something like this for the kitchen? Ely1 0 Report post Posted May 27, 2011 Ooh I love anyone with an inspiration board! Sometimes you'd be surprised how far away the end product will be like It's amusing to me because I have a 27-page inspiration book I collated and nothing in my home looks like it !Love those lights you picked, I wanted one of them you chose as well but ended up with some quite different. Not regretting completely except the "soft warm" bulbs are too bright white for me and cannot be dimmed. Sucks. Will be keeping an eye on your thread - Ely
