may, thanks for the tips but I dont know how to DEH. ask me to DEH, i think anyone will rather kill themselves

Hi sleek... sorry to hear about your toes. take 2-3 months to get healed? that sound like a long long time. why don't you go to the shop and "Deh" with them? hahahahah....

tell you a story. i went to volkswagen showroom yesterday as i needed to buy some accessories for my brother. when i called them, the guy says can come down cos there are stock. So i rushed there to get it but when i went there, the guy said that the comp says there is 1 stock left but warehouse can't find it. so i was there "deh" with the guy then left my number.

Disappointed, i went off and when i reached the bus stop, the guy called and said that they found the stock (although i think he was keeping it for some reason rather than selling to me then changed his mind). So i walked back again and "deh" about how i have to walk back and forth.... so he gave me 20% discount. There aren't suppose to be any discount at all. Now i get the item that they said is out of stock with 20% discount!

Sometimes, you can get things done in a better way by "Deh" than writing a nasty email.

thanks joyous, i used to do the same thing with my mum's library card - back when i used to go to the library, we could only borrow 4 books on each card, :)

hi sleek,

your purchases are nice!! boy, your child is excited to move to a new place!! well to cultivate an interest and expose to books is good. i used to bring my sister to library and read books to her when she was only 2-3 years old. (hee our age gap quite big). from then on, she loves reading and even hoards my library card so that she can borrow more and read more!! good for her! currently she is doing her law studies! till now, she has not returned me my card!! well i can still use my IC to borrow!

oh sad to hear of your toes! no choice then hv to treat them.

shumin, thanks & your welcome. we're lucky to be able to get those items cos it's not our first home :good:

Hi Sleek, hope your toe is healing well.

gosh, your purchases are making me DROOL!!

anyway, thanks for the link on WMs.

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

well i'm pretty sure we wouldnt be expecting boyblunder to be click-clacking up in high heels right???

not mum taking a break to tend to growing infant? I call b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t, i wouldnt trust the author with rearing a cockraoch, least of all to listen to him on child rearing. lol my hb read that book too and loved it, methinks the author should just stick to what he knows best, economics, and not delve into things that are actually important in life ie family & children. :o

Dostoevsky, Gide, Breton, Milton, Miller, Lawrence, Tolstoy, Proust etc. - pretty much figured that you would be into such intellectual philosophical books :D

while i too find your SIL very pretty, unfortunately i have to say i wouldnt want to be a girl looking like your brother - which i've noticed is happening alot with the baby girls in SG, so they do have a valid point there in holding back on having a child. Not that your brother is ugly, but he is not handsome or incredibly good looking either, so you can just imagine how it may not look very good on a girl.

This is going to be awfully mean but lol if i had a dollar for the number of times i've withheld from making a snarky remark everytime someone goes fawning 'oh so pretty, beautiful etc' over an unfortunate baby girl who looks exactly like her ugly father, i would be rich. zz

Actually, I wasn't the last to arrive - boyblunder was!

Reading statistics from Freakonomics, it seems that one criteria for a child's success in his/her career/adulthood is the mere presence of books, not "Mommy and Me" classes, not Mom taking a hiatus from work to tend to growing infant, not the abstinence of TV and video games, not the importance of having both parents. Odd, but Freakonomics is a good read.

I'm an avid reader, inducing in chick lit once in a while for a lighter read but mostly a follower of classics and a huge fan of authors during the surrealism period, ie. Dostoevsky, Gide, Breton, Milton, Miller, Lawrence, Tolstoy, Proust etc.

Will PM you a pic of brother and sis-in-law - personally, I find my sister in law very, very pretty so I don't know what they're talking about! Older brother is crazy smart and have excellent people skills. Brother looks more like a nerd hehe :P

Sorry to hear about the long recovery period of your toes :( I'll be quite pissed if that happened to me during a pedicure. Good reason, though, to wear those summer sandals ;)

- Ely

I am very pissed about my toes because Bliss HQ has not gotten back to me on the email I sent via their contact form and they don't have any email add for feedback. :furious:

Ha! Couldn't he be arriving with a heel-ed partner??

Yeah, and then the statistical facts about how naming your child would determine his/her future! I guess no Tyrones, Jamals, Alyssas, Jazmins, etc for me :P

And whatever gave my choices in literature away??! A friend once bought me "Berdorf Blondes" as a present and I was so aghast I couldn't finish reading it...More surprised at the fact that she actually said "Oh, got this because it's soooo yoouuuu!". :o Everytime I flip a page, I'm rolling my eyes ! Don't get me wrong, I like The Danny Diaries and Shopgirl as chick lit, but somehow find it awfully difficult to get through Jodi Picoult - they just don't hold my interest despite their bestselling and Oprah's endorsement status.

Recently consoled myself (because of extra hacking and re-tiling) with a haul of books - Paul Valery, Flaubert, James Joyce, Jean Genet (typically Virgo, I have a list of To-Buy books I carry with me~), and several of Vogue coffee-table books! Couldn't afford the Tom Ford /cry

I've heard that girls tend to take after their fathers (like I do, despite your comment about me looking like my mom) - body shape, hair/eye/skin colour etc, my mickey mouse ears ugh. We'll just hope those "so pretty, beautiful" babies blossom into swans k? Or maybe I should just "aim" for a boy, though I don't want the child to take after me either... >< But if he's ugly, at least he won't be short of company if he's rich and smart, jes? :P

Use their other email: blisssingapore@blissmail.com and VISIBLY CC their NY PR manager: brooke.temner@blissmail.com , PA to head honcho: debbier@steinerleisure.com , their blog: blog.blissmail.com ,complete with a tweet!: http://twitter.com/#!/BlissSpa :P I think that should get their attention?

Or, since we're such night-owls, wouldn't hurt to call their main office :P I've done that several times and it worked remarkably well! Customer Service: (888) 243-8825 (Starhub has free calls to the US!!)

Incredibly pissed off with the buyer for my current place. Came up to my house with her friend without her agent, with a sob story the DAY before the first appt and wants to start delaying the appt or cancel the deal. It's not that simple lady and we don't buy your LIES!!!!! She better turn up tomorrow or else I'm going to shoot a lawyer's letter to her.

Anyone knows of any good, reasonably priced lawyers?

Well What they signed of course if back off they can get sued. But some sellers know that no buyers will do that. Too troublesome!

So if they do get sued, the most pays for what sleek stated as compensation. That would be 5k she paid plus lawyers fee plus all the trouble they gone through which could be abt 10k. So if the seller get more than 20k from the next buyer from cov then she earn more.

So sorry to hear about this, Sleek. Sigh.

Shall we mail-bomb that idiot? ;)

Hope the toes are better too... I can check with The Husband if he knows of a reasonably-priced lawyer - will keep you updated. Till then, I shall keep virus lab on stand-by :D

*hugs*

Hugs, Sis Sleek. Hope your buyer don't play u out. It's quite inconsiderate of them to tell u of their decision only on the last day before the first appt. Hope everything will turn out well.

you guys are the best, thanks for your commiserations

Basically she wants to screw $ out of everyone; her agent, us sellers and even HDB! her initial sob story when she came to view our place the 2nd time just before signing the OTP was that she is very pitiful, recently divorced with 2 teenaged girls, renting a room somewhere and working for someone as an employee - cause we have a clause that we will only sell to someone who is willing to give us 3 months extension past 2nd appt to to continue staying in this place so we have time to renovate the new flat and move over. So just this Tues, when she turned up at our place unannounced without her agent's knowledge or presence, and after us knowing her true situation from her agent on Tues & Wed we realize she was trying to dig some $ from us - we would have been more than willing to give her rent for the 3months if she had just come out to ask us for it instead of giving us lies and fake stories.

She must be really stupid or just plain crazy to think she would be able to get away with trying to backstab her agent and us, cos now her agent has revealed her bank acc balance to us, that she is living with her ex hb in their matrimonial home, has a huge alimony from the divorce and even runs her own shop in bukit timah!excl.gif Yesterday she turned up for the 1st appt, started arguing, questioning the HDB officer and wasting everyone's time, luckily he is a chinese - so she cannot claim she doesnt understand english or what was being explained to her, and quite no-nonsense type - so he is aware of her rubbish and lying to and about everyone/thing too. also luckily she is taking a hdb loan, so she will have to come up with the initial deposit within these 10 days so we wont have to wait till just before the 2nd appt like with a bank loan to find out she has run away from her end of the deal.

We really cannot have such nonsense as we need the proceeds from the sale of the current place to be able to purchase the new place, so she will be in really deep sh.i.t if she thinks she can just leave a huge mess behind and not have any implications down the line. :curse:
