Divorcee Entitled To Grants?

Hi all,

Appreciate any advice given.

If a person divorce years ago, remarried again recently:

- Previous flat bought during the first marriage is a resale flat

- no grant of any kind is taken

1. Are they entitled to new BTO from HDB?

2. Are they consider as first timers?

3. Can they get grant if they buy from resale?

Hope this helps. Got it directly from HDB page.

If you are a divorcee, you may apply to buy an HDB flat or be listed as an occupier after 5 years from the date the divorce is made absolute to the date of application for a new flat if your matrimonial flat was:

Bought directly from HDB,

A DBSS flat bought under the CPF Housing Grant Scheme, or

A resale flat bought from open market under the CPF Housing Grant Scheme

However, the 5 years period will not apply if:

The matrimonial flat was bought from the open market without any CPF Housing Grant

You are applying for the flat with your parents or new spouse

Can't find the clear definition of "1st timer" from HDB web(may be I not hard working enough), according to my understanding, the "1st timers" are those who receive "grants" from hdb, in the resale mkt purchases , and, who received the "subsidised" flats - 1st hand flat from hdb directly.

If you & your spouse have no "eligibility" issue, then the answers to:

1. Yes, once apply, hdb will know if you are "1st timer".

2. To my understanding, yes.Unless have some hidden agenda.
