Don't scare Sooks la, it might be those big head worms. If it's termites then ehee............ Use Insect Repellent first on the area, these will actually slow them down a little.

Better safe than sorry.

thanks for your comments samtheman, jeanius & daveyap.

Status: i have yet to hear from el, will be calling them soon

Observations: the pile of 'saw dust' is not that big and hard to tell if it is growing since i noticed it sun nite. i am quite sure it is not termite as i have experienced with the nasty creature before in my old apartment which i rented out(9th floor!). when termites strike, they move in lightning speed and leave trail damages very obvious to the eyes. as dave mentioned, you can actually hear them eating on anything wood. there is usually a nest underground. if it is terminite in the sofa, the sofa is unlikely to be able to take my weight by now, ha. i really hope it is less harmful insects/worms, or better still not due to insects/worms. however, i can't think of any other reason why there is a built up of small pile of 'saw dust' right underneath my sofa, in a relatively new condo.

Er, Jenius, still waiting for your answer. You sound very knowledgable and I assume that the company you are from is a bona fide leather sofa business of high quality. There may be fans of this forum who are sincerely looking for good leather sofa to purchase from a reliable and honest company.

Hi Twins

I am a buyer for leather sofas so it is not too nice to review the company i am at.

As i have mentioned in my post, 5 years warranty which includes the leather uphoslstery is unheard of. If a company has a warranty for 5 years on that, do read the exclusions or rather inclusions which EL claims they had. As what Daveyap says, as long as these do not void out the warranty in the first place, then it's great.

Hi Jeanius

Its hilarious, you are an expert in leather. You are correcting the incorrectness, in other words you are trying to play judge by your own experience and from what you think, you get your knowledge from the internet and claimed that you are an expert, I think let others judge if you are really an expert in this field. In this case we have different opinions. You are not trying to get people to buy from you over here is because you lack the ability. You daren't even tell us where do you come from and let us judge whether what you are saying is the truth.

Whatever it is, its up to others to believe, however I dont think you sounded convincing, I am sure there will be others to point out your mistakes. If I were to err, I would apologised, in your case you will divert the topic by talking something which is irrelevant, that includes telling people about your company history and pay up capital. If you are a geniune businessman, you shoild know it doesnt matter how much pay up you have, it only matters if you have that amount in the bank right now.

Based from all these, I reckoned that you are just a kid who might have just left school. I have much better things to do than to try to change your opinion, which I think you are an incorrigible, stubborn mule.

You are free to write what you want in this forum, I hope you will be even more active so that the more you write the more you reveal your weaknesses.

I am dumbfounded.

Hi Jeanius

I think I have to add something here, Knowledge is power, not to know is bad, not to wish to know is worse, to pretend to know when you dont know is even worst.

You are trying to show off your linguistic skills which I can clearly see that you are lacking, you context is poor, your language flow and substance. The way you argued your way through shows immaturity in your personality.

I might not have the time to deal with you in the day but I promised I will make time for you at night. If you want to say something here, make sure you have proof, prove that we are not honouring our words, prove that we have sub standard customer service. I understand that its cheap thrill to you, I consider it cheap thrill for me too. By replying to my customer's post urging them to distrusts us when they had already placed order with us shows what sort of person you are. Fortunately, they are discerning enough to know what you are driving at. To tackle people like you takes some time, believe me, you wont last here for long, your confidence will be corroded, your credibility wears off, you will be left alone. mark my words, if you were to change your approach maybe you will be more credible over here.

I rest my case.

Mr. Executive Living,

FYI, Wu Ta Lang is the nickname that is given to your founder Mr. Alvin Ong by the industry people.

This is an industry thing, I think Jeanius probably shouldn't have brought it up.

Samtheman

My apologise. I am just trying ....., arh.... i am sure you know.

I actually used the leather conditioner that was recommended by the company that sold my parent the sofa set so it was not due to my own negligence. Anyway, that was in the past but it was very painful to see such a fine leather sofa drying out and cracking after only 9 months because the pores have been blocked and the leather couldn't breathe.

Warranty Exclusion and Inclusion clauses have essentially the same effects so it does not matter if it is one or the other. They all exclude liability under certain circumstances. It is great to have a 5 year warranty on leather and I hope to see more furniture companies offering such warranties provided the numerous exclusion clauses do not render the warranty useless.

Dave

He dose not know what you and samtheman meant.

A good sofa will last more than 5 years. However, leather is a sensitive material, it is very hard to differentiate product defect and abuse. If you are as good as you claim you are then you will have to give customers the benefit of the doubt when they report a defect. You will end up replacing a lot of sofas. If you argue that it is abuse then the 5 year warranty will be pointless.

Hi Sam

You are very right in this case, I am sure you understand that a warranty doesnt cover negligence or abuse. A leather sofa, if maintained and used properly could easily last 5 years. When a defect is being reported, we will send our maintainence team to go for inspection. If its by nature wear and tear we will rectify the defects.

I am sure you understand that we have the means to determine if its a bona fide defects. By the way, everything is written clearly in the warranty card itself and our customers understand that. We do not have to argue our way through, in some cases, we do things out of goodwill.

In fact its quite pointless discussing about the warranty here because many of you do not know what does our warranty covers and I am not revealing its contents over here. There are somebody out there who assume things about our warranty and tries to discredit us. As I mentioned, I would like to fast forward it to 5 years later and by then one will know if what we are saying is just a fallacy.

I have been following this thread rather closely. Mainly because I have purchased a set of sofa from EL. Looking at all the recent posting, I am really interested to know which company does Jenius represent. And I am sure many of the forummers are interested as well. As customers, we just want to make comparisons to see which company gives the best deal. Not to say I will buy a sofa set again, but no harm looking whether I have gotten a good deal or not....

So Jenius, how about letting us know more about your company?

Hi robster

Its nice to see you here again!

Hi Sam

Thank you for your information, I appreciate that. I was just wondering, what has it got to do with leather and warranty cards.

I don't think Jenius will disclose the company that he work for....IMO, web reality and actually world can be quite disjointed....so just take the posting here as additional information for your purchase decision. You still need to do your own research/shopping around and simple common sense when you make your purchase.

For me, I find it amazing (and encouraging) that EL can offer warranty for leather for 5 year, whereas non of those high end shops even provide 1 year warranty as it involves shipping the set back to italy....much less those on the 'budget' range of sofa.....

maybe the industry is different, by in mine, the cost of warranty has already been worked in or its renew on a annual basis - if not, there is no way I can run my business

(PS: I definitely not in the furniture industry and definitely NOT a competitor....)

Hi folwer

Thank you for your encouragement, we do not leave our customers in lurch, those premium sofas do not offer surface warranty, by the way, our sofas are not from Italy, they are from Malaysia, and over here in Singapore, we have a workshop and a logistic centre to serve all our clients' needs.

Hi Jeanius

I do not understand the term, " I am a buyer for leather sofas " maybe you can elaborate on that so that we can comprehend what you are tryng to put across to our fellow forummers. Till now, nobody has any problem with our 5 year warranty until you came out with some disagreement. You did that based on the fact that nobody gives 5 year surface warranty, only EL does, that makes you unhappy because you cannot do that for your own company. You had customers who visited you shop and because of your pricing and lack of warranty irates you so much that you wanted to cast doubts among those who supported us and those who wanted to support us.

Your motive is to put EL in a bad light merely by disputing our leather and warranty terms which you do not even know what is stated inside. You based on your assumption and you start to ratter non stop like a headless fly with no sense of direction. That is the reason why I say that your business is greatly affected by Executive Living and that is the reason why you are feeling so bitter about it.

In your posting, you claimed that you are in a different league, I agree and I can confidently say that you are definity not in the same league as EL, your league is somewhere much lower where you are still displaying sofas made from PU, PVC and bonded leather. Plesae correct me if I am wrong, I hope to hear from you soon.
