Home In The West

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

After 5 years stay in the east and a long long long search and battling with the high COV in recent month (ridiculous high), Finally we got this EA unit in the west. Will be having our first HDB appt in 2 weeks time on 6 June 2011. Current owner has agreed to move out earlier before completion date to allow us to start reno first in first week of july before we hand over our place. Hopefully owner dont fly me aeroplane and hope everything goes well as plan. If not will be homeless (finger cross)

Previous reno was pretty smooth but ID company no longer available now. For the past 3 weeks, has been sourcing for ID/contractor, going thru quote after quote, repeating requirements again and again (stress out), finally decided to go with the one that we feel comfortable but not the cheapest. Sourcing and meeting ID is serously a tiring process.

Here our floorplan of our unit. Is ard 154 sqm. Condition of the house is very bad but we love the layout and space . Everything got to go and replace.

Looking for good contractors? Click here for your request

Currently both balcony doors was hack off by current owner. Intending to build back the doors and was aiming at those sliding and folding doors that I saw in the forum. Want to faint when i saw the price my ID quoted me. Didn't know is so expensive. Anyone has good contact to intro and feedback on the this sliding/folding doors? TIA.

ohh nobody reply.. sob sob.

Any kind bro/sis to advise on the sliding/folding door.

Another concern was laminate ID use for the bedrooms, power dekor, seem not recommended as it is from china. haizzz... to hack off the current tiles for bedrooms and replace with homo tiles is over my budget... really lost now.

Hi Hock, congratulations on ur new home :)

Nice & big layout u got there. For the sliding/folding door, u may wanna try Alex from alexwindow..(mine is not from alex..I got it from my contractor :)) Btw, if u don't mind, how much ur ID charge u for the sliding/folding?

As for the flooring, if u still interested in laminate, I guess the best way is to out source..sometimes it is more expensive than what ur ID quote BUT better in quality and u don't have to hack the existing tiles. Just my 2cents :P

Hi ladyR,

thank you. my ID charge me for close to 4.9k for the folding plus sliding door with wooden frame and glass panel. expensive?

as for flooring, i do like laminate but worry of the maintenance and durability. Got tight budget, haizz.

there are many brands of laminates out there, too many to be named in fact.

U can ask your ID to put on hold the laminate decision if unsure, meanwhile take some time to compare brand and pricing.

Have to do some hard work by looking through tblogs and asking others for their reviews and most importantly the pricing. Laminates is extremely competitive and dealer also quote diff prices to diff customers and often leave room for bargaining.

Hope it helps. :)

Hi hock,
