Sheelaa 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2011 And here's the second lookbook I put together - something slightly more modern, but still very clean and neutral.I super lurve the dining chair! It's pretty much the same as the Maruni Hiroshima chair I think, but I wonder what's the price like.Any thoughts?Hi,I saw that chair at comfort design @ e plaza, made an appoinment this Sunday with the sales lady to view other nice looking chairs & bar stools at the main store at Eunos (they really have a wide collection of designer chairs etc etc). Let me know if you want me to check out a good bargain price
strikingreality 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) I've been to Comfort design. They do a lot of replicas of the designer chairs, but to be honest I feel the quality's not as good though, esp once you hv tried the originals. I think they specialize in commercial furniture. A lot of restaurant dining tables for sale. Edited June 23, 2011 by strikingreality
rayfox 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2011 Hi rayfox,Thanks for the update. Is it closed permanently, or for like upgrading / renovation works?Hope it's still around - like the place very very much. Super nice big foodcourt and many nice small cool shops with good stuff. Is close to develop the property into office buildings, retail areas, residential and entertainment complexes
strikingreality 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2011 Hi strikingreality, the Gallery stool that I love is $799 (after 30% discount!). No surprise cos I'd checked the overseas prices from online stores but still... sigh, I've no budget for such frills! Lovely stuff for browsing anyways (online or in the store) if you are a window shopper like me. Oh, I will prob go to Indonesia on business trip in a few months. Can you recommend some nice places in Indo for home furnishings and accessories? Thanks! The Danish Design place seems really ex though... Might skip it due to budget constraints, but let's see how it goes. Unfortunately, I do not know where in Indo is good for furnishings... Sorry can't help with that. I didn't dare to touch the chairs after I saw the prices... Imagine... 4 x Hiroshima chairs = 1 nice kitchen. In comparison, I think the Wishbone chair offer by Space during their 10/10 promo is fairly good. Not that I'm saying it's cheap (it isn't), but for a classic design that lasts nearly forever... Sorry can't help with that. Can just go n have a look, no harm if you drive. Is ok re: Indo... my place seems to be veering towards a fairly clean looking aesthetic. Haven't quite figured out what to do in "Phase 2" aka decor n furnishings. So I think I'll stay in for a few months and gather new possessions slowly and that are tailored for a specific corner/function...
timothyng27 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Hi Sheelaa,Sure, please do help me check it out. If possible help me take a pic and get the price too! timothyng27 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Hmmm I think it's worth checking out to take a look. I've visited Ngee Hong before; are they very similar?I've been to Comfort design. timothyng27 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 I didn't know the chairs were so expensive when I checked them out! $2.4K is a ridiculous amount for a dining chair!I'm thinking of just going with cheaper replicas - but will check out Danish Design Co today if I can. Hope they're not ridiculously expensive too.End of the day the dining table and chairs won't really be used much by me and my partner. We'd rather spend more on the sofa, tv and bedErm... probably cheaper than the Hiroshima chairs that are $2.4K each? I didn't dare to touch the chairs after I saw the prices... timothyng27 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Lush is definitely better, but price also more expensive! Btw I contacted Hawaii 5-0 in BKK through email. Someone forwarded me the price list, materials and colour options. The prices are actually very very reasonable (as compared to similar pieces here). The only difference is shipping costs, which I think shouldn't be too much too. Let me know if you want me to forward it to you Yes, it's quite similar to Ngee Hong with all the chairs etc. Definitely worth checking out, but I prefer Lush to Comfort though. timothyng27 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2011 Today I went to Danish Design Co at 100E Pasir Panjang Road.I met up with Jacqueline - extremely approachable, warm and helpful sales manager. They stock a pretty good range of Danish (obviously ) furniture which are very good on the eye but not so good on the wallet. HahaNevertheless, Jacqueline showed me around and some of the stuff caught my eye:1. Holmris Office Desk: http://www.holmris.com/htm/skriveborde_opbevaring.html - Extremely cool electric legs which adjust the height of your desk by pressing a button - Very minimalistic with hidden cord boxes for unsightly cords ands cables2. Lightyears Nosy T Table Lamp: http://www.lightyears.dk - Simple but effective form. Malleable lamp that can be shaped to face anywhere or take any form - Very nice touch sensitive dimmers and on / off switch3, PP Mobler: http://www.pp.dk/ - Super nice faded oak finish (which I really like) available on almost all their pieces - Superb quality and workmanship - possibly one of the best wood finishings I've seen / feltI saw the PP501 / 503 chair in their showroom. The Hiroshima chair by Maruni looks almost exactly similar although the finishing is slightly more smooth / lacquered.Guess how much the PP 501 / 503 chair costs? The closest guess wins a coffee treat from me!
