timothyng27 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 Hi ne0mesis,Thank you for the warm welcome!I think the pictures of the items I like all look nice only la; probably photoshop and nice lighting! Haha.My pockets are not deep la. Post picture free one; I also never buy anything yet Honestly I feel more and more practical each time I visit a showroom or ID.A lot of the things I like at first now seem quite expensive. So chances are, I'll keep looking for cheap(er) alternatives to what I want. One of my "balconies" is actually a corridor from my main door to living room, and it's been elevated to be flush with the living room floor already.I would like a kitchen island, and am thinking of going combining a island and dining table.\I'm in the process of shortlisting IDs now. Met a good one last week, and meeting one more on Saturday whom I think should be very good also.I'm quite confident I will eventually go with one of these 2 IDs. I'll let you guys know as things develop Glad you like my blog! Feel free to stalk it anytime! Hahahai must say fine taste on the choice of furnitures - exquisite and with class.with that, you must have a matching deep pockets too. ha! no offence, just joking ya. well, better late than never, welcome to RT!really nice squarish layout you have there and 2 balconies?? wowif i may suggest, if you have a kitchen island, incorporate it with the the kitchen column facing the living room. surely conversational if done properly!!i guarantee that! hainspiration / looks you opted really apt these amount of space btw.now is the critical task to find THE ONE id that can help to gel and translate the space with your pieces.gd luck with your id selection!d a r n exciting times ahead.cause i'm already excited for you!!and i will be stalking your blog. ha
Sheelaa 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 Here's a couple of fans I like:G Squared Gyrette - Price / Local availability unknownKDK Yuragi - $380 Tai Yong @ Jln BesarHaiku Kotuku - $595 Relite SpecialitySycamore fan - $1388 at ElmarkAll in all, I think I like the Haiku Kotuku fan the most, although somehow the image can't be displayed. How about you?Agree the Haiku fan looks good , i'm planning on getting something with steel motif too since planning on a total steel & glass concept .Note that the Sycamore Fan was a "BIG" dissapointment ...i was almost sure of purchasing this fan and went to Elmark 2 weeks ago ..sighh ..could not believe i was looking at a smaller than expected fan with one blade rotating as though the blade was too heavy for the motors ..and guess what ..can't feel any wind at all below it...was glad that i personally went to view it instead of assuming it looks as good as it does in the pictures. timothyng27 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 Hi Sheelaa,Thanks for the note of caution! I started off this T-blog just looking for inspirations / components online. As such, a lot of pictures I got were mostly images from the web and promotional shots.I think you raised a good point here; to always go and see in how it (furniture / lights / appliances) look, how it feel and works in real-life.Pictures only are often misleading, and even in showrooms a lot of these things look nicer as they're more well-lit and interiors are done up much nicer.I will probably go with a more practical fan; I found a contact called "bro" on renotalk who has good prices on KDK / fanco fans. Here's some of the fans I've shortlisted - nothing too fancy, but nice, solid-looking fans in gun-metal, white or black which perform decently well.Fanco:FFM8383 - 56", 3 blades in gun metalhttp://www.fanco.com.sg/index.php?page=ffm-8383-ab-gm-br---56FF9 - 56", 5 blades in gun metalhttp://www.fanco.com.sg/index.php?page=ff9-ab-ms-gm---568080 - 56", 3 blades in white (looks a bit like a old classroom fan)http://www.fanco.com.sg/index.php?page=8080-ab-ms-gm---56KDK:Sensa 5 - 60", 5 blades in titanium silver. Blades look nice and I think performance should be good toohttp://www.kdk.com.my/product/?p=29Sena 4 - 56", Same as above but with 4 bladeshttp://www.kdk.com.my/product/?p=31K14X8CL - 56", 4 blades in glassic goldhttp://www.kdk.com.my/product/?p=217bro, if you're reading this, can you comment on performance / sizes and rough pricing? What's the difference (besides looks) between 3,4, and 5 blades? How many speeds are really necessary for a fan? Do Fanco fans come with remote controlled versions too? What about the height needed to install each fan?Sheelaa, I hope you like my choice of fans! Let me know if you're interested to view them. maybe we can go together! And if you're interested to buy already, I'll get bro to PM you. Think his rates / services sound pretty fair.Agree the Haiku fan looks good , i'm planning on getting something with steel motif too since planning on a total steel & glass concept .Note that the Sycamore Fan was a "BIG" dissapointment ...i was almost sure of purchasing this fan and went to Elmark 2 weeks ago ..sighh ..could not believe i was looking at a smaller than expected fan with one blade rotating as though the blade was too heavy for the motors ..and guess what ..can't feel any wind at all below it...was glad that i personally went to view it instead of assuming it looks as good as it does in the pictures. rottenramone 1 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 it's a good idea to take some elements from the scandi designs and not be overwhelmed with it.If I can suggest, since u live in such an old neighbourhood, u can draw inspiration from the older HDB architechture around you. There are a few landmarks around the town centre (road signs/domed swimming pool/old multi-storey carpark). take a leaf from it and incorporate in your style? a good resource will be over here. http://visualarchive.sgi'm also looking for a mid-mod look but with local elements
timothyng27 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 Hi rottenramone,I think your idea sounds pretty interesting - but a little bit hard to visualize actually. Not really that many landmarks which are architecturally interesting - there's Henderson Market, Henderson Park, Tiong Bahru Plaza and 2 small temples behind. However, none of these landmarks are iconic or even outstanding at all. Do you have any visuals that I can take inspiration from?it's a good idea to take some elements from the scandi designs and not be overwhelmed with it.If I can suggest, since u live in such an old neighbourhood, u can draw inspiration from the older HDB architechture around you. timothyng27 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2011 Here's my first slightly Scandi-inspired "lookbook" put together after checking out a few places.Simple, clean, understated and slightly woody pieces. Hope you like!
rottenramone 1 Report post Posted June 2, 2011 when i was in sec sch and passing by queenstown mrt, there was this block of old flats much taller than the usual blocks. it had streamlined corridors across the block. later i found out it was called forfar house on the papers when the hdb announced that it was going to be demolished. here are some pics which i found on the national archives website: http://picas.nhb.gov.sg/picas/public/internetSearch/advancedSearch.jsp?thesaurusFlag=Y&simpleSearch=forfar%20house&pageNumber=1&total=

Ely1 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2011 Love your look book! Can't wait to see how it progresses! I, too, sourced all my inspirations online till I compiled a 27 page book!! Sometimes you'd be surprised how the eventual product turns out as you get too carried away with purchases ! The Scandi look is beautiful and classic, and getting very popular here. Even though my intended look leans more towards luxe and modern, I can appreciate all the different charms and it took me a while to decide which one I would love the most for 10 years. Good luck with your reno and your picking of the ID! Hope it goes smoothly without a hitch!- Ely

My reno will only start tentatively in Nov/Dec.
timothyng27 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2011 Hi rottenramone,I've heard stories about forfar house or forfar heights (as I think it's called now). I heard since it was the tallest building in singapore back at that time, a lot of people used to jump down there. Anyway, I think it's pretty interesting to incorporate some of the old HDB interior design into my current place, like the brick walls, old-school louvred windows, cement screed and white square tap basins. Might ask my ID for some ideas Thanks for the pics and inspiration. Do let me know if you've any recommendations of feedback at all Bondi is not a ragdoll, though I intended to get one actually while in Australia but was disappointed when I visited the breeder's place. Bondi is a British Shorthair. Do let me know what areas of recommendations are needed, I'll be more than happy to point you in the right direction Yes I know my T-blog is long-winded without enticing pics - just loquacious prose and constant laments It would take quite a bit of time and determination to go through my blog in its entirety. - Ely
