A Bright & Airy Executive Maisonette

Recommended Posts

looks gorg, if no one knows, call them up and ask them, hahahah. did you faint from the prices of the modular kitchens?

Think have to... Think is one of the most comfy stools we've tried so far. Even if we don't get it, really want to know from where and how much!

Room of Woods

http://www.roomofwoods.com

Hope you'll be able to source something that fits all your requirements soon! :sport-smiley-018:

And I've seen the first 2 sites you recommended before. The foundry site I haven't though.

It looks really really awesome (and expensive) :P Will go and check it out this weekend. Thank you!

Thanks for the Room of Woods link! Think I'll pay it a visit when my wallet has recovered slightly from the reno damage.

SO went to PC show and bought a new AC Ryan media player and a Linksys E4200 (supposedly a Red Dot Design award winner). Unfortunately for him, I'm not very appreciative of the new toys... :P

The stool looks very butt-hugging. Think it might not be so comfortable for me since I'm slightly bigger :P

I was at the PC Show yesterday too - like a big pasar malam selling electronic stuff. How much did you pay for the media player and router?

I was looking at some of the LG Infinia TVs, looks like good bang for your buck. Saw a 55" LED Smart TV going for $3999 with 4 sets of 3D glasses, blu-ray player (I think) and other perks.

I think I'll hold out on getting a TV until just before I move in. Just do homework and check prices / features first.

What other toys are you thinking of buying?

Hi Adi :)

AC Ryan is pretty good, just be sure to know that newest firmware does not support avi files for some reason. Comparing it with my Western Digital, I find the WD a lot more user friendly and plays whatever it gets thrown at.

One way of getting pass is to de-compress the external HDD, though it takes a tediously loonnnng time, so if you're setting up your downloads for the first time, make sure the HDD has the "compress disk" unchecked. I couldn't be bothered so it's a game of musical HDDs and media players from bedroom to living room.

One of our biggest regrets was not getting a 55" TV, the 46" really seems too small against the feature wall, and I still need to wear glasses from the couch!! Sigh - You should really wait till your home firms up a bit before buying stuff to put into it. That's one of my lessons learnt - now my house is too cluttered. When the tiling works are done etc, you get a better feel of the space and place. :) Don't get too carried with the purchases yet (though I know how hard it not to :P)

As for Linksys, I have a personal hatred for it due to gaming issues (a lot of flashing firmware, rubber-banding issues etc) and have stuck with Netgear since. /shrug

Hi Timothy, the stools are really comfortable, even for my SO who is bigger-sized. I suspect from the design (and the fact that it's from Interior Affairs) that it'll cost a bomb tho.

I've no idea how much he paid for the toys! I couldn't go plus I suspect he enjoys the shopping more when I don't tag along anyway. :)

$3999 sounds good, plus so many freebies. What's the refresh rate and how many HDMI ports are there? Btw when is your apartment ready? Cos I thought offer is usually better during such shows so it makes sense to buy now?

Toys I'm considering include a phone with good speaker/mute for conference calls (for times when I need to do late night calls) and an electricity tracking device (more a want than a need so maybe not, sigh).

Plus am clueless which brand/model of built-in oven to get.

And BTW, I came across a Brabantia sale today on Brandsfever and I immediately though about you and your atas bread bin. Hahaha :P

Anyway here's the link to their sale: http://www.brandsfever.com/store/category/1200/details/

You have to be a member or login with your facebook to view. Enjoy!

Thanks! Am a brandsfever member too. Atas bread bin on hold... trying to resist buying stuff that are not absolutely necessary. Am glad to have bought the 10L bin from Cold Storage tho. :good:

Thanks for your advice babe! It's our 2nd AC Ryan - asked my SO why we need a 2nd one n he said one for the living room and one for upstairs. I'm like... whatever. Some stuff I think leave to the men to do. I'll just give him a helpless look when I wanna watch movies lor.

And thanks for the info abt the TV size. We did get a 55" one. Again, another one of his toys. It kinda works like this in our place - he decides on the toys, mostly (I think I do get some veto rights), and I more or less "propose" most of the other furnitures. He gets to exercise veto rights too but he claims that I just try to give him the impression that he can decide... 8| Absolutely untrue!

Actually we really haven't bought much for the new place. We have enuf rubbish as it is, and we hate to move (even more) stuff. So we kinda agree that a 2nd round of shopping and decor will take place at year-end when the stores have sales again. Plus I can't visualise how everything will go together so am quite wary to commit to a buy when I don't know if it'll fit/look good together with the rest of the stuff.

Plus, feeling broke helps in controlling the shopping urges. :P

So loads of window shopping for now and am mentally compiling a list of stores that I intend to visit when the time comes. :)

Finally bought a cheap dining room lamp that needs some DIY. It's the Normann Norm 03 lamp that looks like this:

normann-norm-03-02.jpg

I was keen on the Norm 06 lamp initially, but then SO prefers the Norm 03 plus I thought maybe quite interesting to see the patterns on the ceiling (not sure how long before I get sick of it tho!).

normann-norm-03-04.jpg

I've included more pics, info and the instructional video on how to assemble the lamp HERE if anyone is interested. :)

It's made of plastic, so we think maybe can just spray with water if we can remove from the lightbulb assembly... yeah, we also thought that cleaning would be a pain but it's only $200, so what the heck.

Oh ya, finally some reno updates! 3 out of the 4 walls applied for hacking have been approved, yay! The remaining one needs some PE endorsement and supporting stuff. Going to ask my IDs how tmr. :dancingqueen:

To give back to all the RT folks who have been sharing their lobangs, found a nice new store to share... it's Pomelo Home located at 6 Teck Lim Street.

pomelo01.jpg

That's where I saw the Established & Sons Heidi stools that I like. They also have the George Nelson Bubble Lamps that my IDs like and various stuff that you can't find in other SG stores cos they have exclusive distribution.

Links to the various brands distributed by Pomelo can be found here.

Today was also tiles selection day. I take pretty crappy iphone pics so I'll share what I sorta imagine my toilet will look like:

dark-toilets.jpg

Yeah, dark tiles on walls and floor. Hope I don't regret this! The rest of the selection is pretty cookie-cutterish so won't elaborate further here.

Also got a work schedule from my IDs today, and finally confirmed when to arrange delivery for all my purchases. So excited to see my post-reno apartment... ahhhh... can't stand the wait.

And why my seller taking so long to move out??? :curse:

Am a bit worried the toilet is too dark vs the rest of the bedroom (totally white). Anyway, fingers cross lar...

Hmm... can't really rem the prices but vaguely rem the medium ones are $700++. The bubble lamps come in 3 sizes - small, medium n large. The rest I did not ask cos I went mainly to look at the chairs.

Do give Raymond a call or pop by to have a look. Even my IDs commented that it's a nice store (and they made an impulse buy! yeah, that good). ;)

Thanks Ely, but no wall-hung loos for me. :(

The bathroom is not spacious enough... it's definitely going on the wish list for my next home.
