My Floor Tiles Cracked

Recommended Posts

Need help!

My marble floor cracked! We didn't check properly after the contractor done his job with my hse renov. Realised later that the flooring in the living room, some part seems to be hollow, understand from friends that is because they didn't put enough sand when they lay out the tiles. Some of the tiles starts to show crack after all the walking(coz near the entrance). Couldn't find the contractor anymore.

Anyone has contact of good contractor who can do the repair? Think at least 8-10 tiles out of about 45(my living room is small) are affected. Guess I have to re-do the whole flooring? Anyone know how much it will cost?

Thanks much!

Hi Tuts,

How old is your marble floor? Do you plan to do the floor by changing all the materials or only touch up in the defects area?

The cost depends on what material you are going to use, the difficulties of the works, and how large is your living room is. If you dont mind I am asking, how big is your living room?

Have you considered about bamboo flooring? With this materials, you can have less maintenance, healthier and easier installing than others.

Cheers

Indira

Hi Indira

Think I will have to change all the materials since I don't have spare tiles from the renov then. If I just touch up the defects area means the flooring will be of different colours... =( is less than 5 years.. so sad.

Can't recall the exact area space, my tiles is 60x60, think it should be 16.2sq metres.

Bamboo flooring is new? Does it come in different colours? The colour theme of my hse is white and dark brown. We are thinking of just changing it to the normal white tiles will do, don't want to spend too much on this...

Thanks much!

Hi Tuts,

I dont think Bamboo flooring is a new material, there are many HDB and private houses using this material and from what I know they are quite satisfied. And bamboo flooring can overlay of your existing marble floor so you can save up the cost for hacking all the floors, :)

Bamboo flooring has so many range of colors, below just several that I can find so far, you can see the some of the pictures that I show you here,

hi there :) .. if it's marble flooring that you're talking about that cracked, no worries. it's not really a big issue and patching it up with marble glue will do the job nicely. it's cost efficient and won't even cost a bomb. if the workmanship is good, u might not even notice the crack after it's done. u can try this number (9838 1706 bao) or (9632 8344 lee).

as for bamboo flooring, it does warp. u need to spread it open for it to expand and contract for a week before laying.
