veronehoo 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2011 I sourced for moving companies last month and one of them is The Helping Hand. After talking to Richard on the phone, a site assessment was conducted on the 25 June 11 by Ah Boon with a quotation of a 15 footer lorry, one-way trip at $200+$25 for one floor without lift. I confirmed on the spot for the moving details and 10 free boxes were given. He did not give me his mobile no. and ask me to contact Mr Richard if there's anything.Yesterday when I called Mr Richard, he doesn't seem to have my confirmation and said that since Ah Boon confirmed, that means it's confirmed . BUT, can we check with Ah Boon? So, he asked me to send a SMS with the details so that he can check. Till now, he did not get back to me. Now I'm feeling abit worried that I won't be able to move on 30 July 11! AND that is the day before the 7th lunar month aka ghost month

veronehoo 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2011 (edited) All the old switches in the house will have to go. Will be going to Choo Chiang to buy clipsal switches including 1-gang, 2-gangs, 3-gangs, water heater, single & double sockets and then getting contractor to install change at $10 each. It is still 50% cheaper than asking contractor to buy and fix. Afterall, they are also getting supplies from Choo Chiang I will be buying the Schneider brand (according to the uncle, Schneider has taken over the Clipsal brand) which is the cheapest. 1-gang costs only $1.30 each.Update on 26/7/11 - Bought all the switches, sockets & telephone outlets from Choo Chiang for a total of $65.00. I also managed to get a cheaper quote to change all the switches & sockets for a package price of $120 for the entire house ~ Thanks to Uncle Ronnie. So far, comments about workmanship, project coordination and overall experience are also reserved. Still keeping fingers crossed for our moving on this Saturday. Getting anxious cos' there is totally no progress during the 3rd week except for installing of veneer doors and re-vanish of living room & MBR parquet floorings. Pending tasks for the 4th week ie. last week include fitting of WC + basin + toilet accessories, lightings, all carpentry works, shower screeens, toilet doors, mirror @dining area and acid wash + cleaning. veronehoo 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Renovation in progress ~ Week 3Painting done ~ Living TV area. The colour looks more bluish grey although I chose the pure grey colour.Wonder why the centre is not painted? Likewise for almost the rest of walls where feature walls and cabinets are to be mounted.I asked the contractor and he said b'cos we chose the more expensive paint ("Nippon" & "ICI" ??) and also since feature walls and cabinets will just cover up ??!!! ~ DS's room~ MBR Edited July 27, 2011 by veronehoo
