How old is this flat? About 5 to 6 years? The previous owners are the first owners who bought the flat directly from HDB?

Most probably they were not allowed to hack the wall when doing the tiles bec at that time it was new flat. So they may have done some overlay of tiles. You may have to hack the walls if u want to replace the tiles.

nope

everything is original from hdb

just that the walls are not solid concrete, its more of like a partition , u know it when you knock/bang the wall, there is a hollow feel, it is just like hitting a board

actually my agent did tell us before that we need to pay special attention to the toilet if hacking cos the toilet walls of the flat are made of 'metal sheet' (the direct translation of what he told us in chinese)

At that time, we didn't really know what he meant but we finally understood today.

Yep, I know the hollow feeling :P

If sure your ID would make the best out it and make your reno a good one. Looking forward to your reno updates and more pics.

yup

reno has officially started. the entire flooring and existing kitchen cabinets are protected today. some doors are unhinged, 1 existing built in wardrobe in the room already gone... saw all the markings on the wall on what to hack...

its gonna be a 1 mth plus wait before we can finally see the end result, really looking forward to moving in soon!

the kitchen was renovated 1 yr ago and still in very good condition, therefore we do not intend to revamp it.

here are some pictures of the kitchen:

we gonna replace that brown wooden border

we may just want to just change the tap and the cabinet handles if there are leftover $$ at the end of the reno biggrin.gif

yeap, things are a bit slow as we didn't expect HDB to require us to get PE endorsement for the hacking of the bedroom wall, kinda disrupted the work schedule,

but we are now catching up, just about 1 wk behind.

the false ceiling are more or less done

as for the metal plates, they are embedded in the toilet walls, understand that this may be the case for the newer flats????

anyway, this is another setback because contractor couldn't remove with normal tools, need to come back again to remove them.

anyway, we are fixing up the aircon during midwk, and was told that the tilings for the toilets will be completed by wkends, keeping our fingers crossed.

All the best for the works to be done. Your false ceiling looks interesting. Can't wait to see the end state completed false ceiling. Update pics when ready.
