west 1 Report post Posted April 24, 2011 After seeing so many blogs here, it's time for one of our own!We bought our first and current flat in jurong direct from hdb about 9 yrs ago, back then, we just got married and entered the workforce, had little financial luxury do to up the house nicely... no IDs, but just couple of contractors here and there to do up the essentials. time files, we had a kid in 2008 and have made the decision to move somewhere central and near to our parent's place. After countless viewings since late last year and 2 failed attempts (can't agree on T&Cs for 1 and the owner MIA for the other), we are finally getting the keys to our new place in about a month's time! this time round, we have engaged an ID to do up the house nicely for us. somehow, it seems like we are restarting again almost from scratch since we are 'downgrading' from a 5rm to a 4rm (kinda miserably small compared to our current place) and we won't be bringing most of our stuff over because they are either too big or too old.. the total cost (for the new place, reno and new furniture and stuff) is not going to be exactly cheap but i guess there is always a price to pay a 'real' dream home...the resale we have got is within walking dist from Queenstown mrt, very near to our parents place (2-3 bus stops away), it is close to town and had a great unblock view (high floor). its a relatively new unit and the owner had maintained it well quite. unfortunately, we will still need to 'operate' on it to our liking. currently, we are in the stages of finalising the reno details with our ID, we will be doing a lot of shopping soon and are looking forward for the reno to start soon in about a month's time! sleek 2 Report post Posted May 1, 2011 welcome to t-blog. it is good to upgrade to one closer to town & most importantly nearer to family, most of us have to move further away from town when 'upgrading'
west 1 Report post Posted May 8, 2011 (edited) Well, we are currently staying at the edge of jurong near tuas, so moving to anywhere else would be considered nearer to town and closer to our parents... Anyway, we are expecting the finalised drawings from our ID in this 1-2 wk's time before going full force with our shopping!!our 2nd appt with the sellers will be next wk, can't wait for the day to arrive Edited May 8, 2011 by west

stinker808 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) Ah...... I also went to Sungei Kadut to find but didnt see this particular model. Saw another one which was a 3-seater sliding - Full leather. Wifey was quite inclined to get that but luckily saw this when we happened to be there to meet up with our ID. And luckily the salesman was quite nice, not pushy at all and was kind enough to attend to us throughout the entire time (Even though we went in quite late, around 8.30-8.45pm). So in the end, decided on this one cos of the high backrest, soft cushioning and super depth.... hahahahhaBut decided to get the half-leather since I'm not gonna move it once it's set. Did ask to change the foam though, to the better ones. But managed to bargain for the small side table....hahahaGlad we made the right choice Cheers Edited May 9, 2011 by stinker808
west 1 Report post Posted May 9, 2011 wah that's more than 25 stories of height! dun mind asking what's the COV damage?Actually it is above 35 well, let's just say that the COV is much higher than normal we closed the deal just before the govt announced measures to cool the property mkt... its kinda heart-pain to our wallet, we had options to get lower and cheaper units ni the area but we know an awesome view like that is never easy to come by, almost the entire horizon unblocked, the sea, the ships, sentosa, the bustling traffic , it is so 'on top of the world' feeling
