strikingreality 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2011 I like my original craftstone wall... Being a neutral/brown colour lover, I love the colours and overall resort "feel" of the wall. However, when one of the IDs we met suggested painting white glossy paint over the original feature wall, we were sold on the idea. It's like the brick wall, but with an edge. Although we didn't engage that ID in the end, we hijacked the idea! We also reinforced the craftstone pieces which were loose. Here's the before and after look. The settee at the window was done my our carpenter, before the feature wall was painted. Not sure why the works was done in this order (since carpentry usually after painting), but as long as the painter did not dirty the new carpentry, we're okay with it. rottenramone 1 Report post Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) time to complain! do it the singaporean way. hehehe.looking forward to the final product soon.he was nice about it when we popped over. he also offered us to take the display piece at a discounted price, which left us with some spare cash at the store. now thinking of what to get.edit: he provided us with the full story of what happened. the warehouse lost a few items of his inventory and the sofa was one of them. he was straight up about it, and i was personally appreciative of his honesty and offer to make it up to us. good guy to deal with! mummymantras 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2011 Picture of the day... we found both items in the cupboard during the carpentry stage... Ha! Ha! Ha! They're obviously very important. What carpenter would want to be without his feather duster and liquid paper, after all?!
strikingreality 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2011 Hi Jon, Thank you! We really like the end look though we were not quite sure at first! But I wish I bought a smaller hob. This hob is huge!Btw, I just wanna ask. Usually contractors/IDs will include a thorough clean of the house before handover, but after that, do you guys do another cleaning of the house? strikingreality 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2011 Based on our past 2 experience, we had to clean up A LOT even after the contractor does their so called "Acid Wash + Cleaning". Especially the wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, flooring & if you had varnished the parquet, the walls too. We're having this dilemma of whether to do the clean up ourselves, or hire a cleaning contractor to do a cleanup (Old liao.... )JonThanks Jon. Yesterday I went to NTUC and I was looking at the cleaning detergent section! OMG, so many different types. Bathroom Cleaner, Toilet Cleaner, Kitchen Cleaner, Kitchen and Bathroom Cleaner, Surface Cleaner, All Purpose Cleaner, Grease and Stain Remover... OMG. Surface cleaner can use as all purpose cleaner? Can all purpose cleaner replace bathroom and kitchen cleaner etc etc. See until blur. The only thing prob I won't need to do is to mop the floor, since my flooring is laminates, cannot have long exposure to water. strikingreality 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2011 Today we spent the whole day in the house receiving our furnitures and electronics and juz basically general cleaning up.. we realized that the walls in the MBR are pretty poorly painted and checked with the ID. He claimed it's done by the laminates contractor (who was engaged by us separately) and parts of it is due to the original condition of the wall and we had chose not to plaster it, hence this was the end result. Personally I felt that the ID should have warned us that if we don't plaster the wall this would be the end result. I felt that it was unfair for the ID to assume that we would know this considering that this was our first home. Shouldn't he has anticipated this beforehand?! Hubby says I feel like this because of my background (I work in the hotel line). But because the house is close to handover, the ID says he cannot replaster the whole room again although he will try to make good the wall close to the skirting. strikingreality 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2011 (edited) I love the lighting in the entire house. The Artemide Tolomeo was bought 2nd hand from an ad we saw here on Renotalk. Very nice first owner who sold this to us at a fraction of the price and even delivered it to our house, cuz we lived in the same estate. Living RoomThe balcony light, which is the Artemide Mesmeri, looks uncannily like its stock photo. Which is a good thing, which means Artemide does not lie in its pictures and its advertising. balconyThe &Tradition lights were not the first lights we chose for the dining, even though I was lusting after them for a long while, but without seeing the actual thing, I couldn't bring myself to checkout the basket... That was until hubby saw them in Foundry one fine day, and decided that we needed to get it. And with free shipping and ample protection, we bought them online. The original dining lamps, which we got in Bangkok were relegated to the study. dining Edited September 17, 2011 by strikingreality
