Thank you! Endorsement from the pioneer of the Scandi/Mid-Century home on the t-blogs! *Gushes*

Glad you guys enjoyed the pictures! It was a tiring trip, doing all the walking and shopping, but satisfying, nonetheless.

Did more shopping today. Went down to Kong Tai and confirmed several items with them...

Hitachi R-S37SVS-ST Bottom Freezer Fridge

Bosch HBA23B550J - was originally going for the Brandt 811 series, but this was on offer for just slightly more than the Brandt, so might as well. Made in Germany :)

Rinnai RB-3Si, originally wanted the Ceran Glass 2CG series, but was advised not to, as we are going to install our oven under the hob...

Turbo T6001 cooker hood - one of the slimmest in the market at 105mm or something like that. :P

KDK M11SU for the MBR

KDK V56VK for the living room.

He knows of the local retro shops like A Thousand Tales and Logans and shared his opinions of these shops with us, giving us an insider's view to some of these retro furnishing companies. :)

It was an enjoyable afternoon and certainly worth the rush to his shop straight after our flight.

Did you guys get anything from his shop?

Hmm... can share what he mentioned abt the SG stores? Just a curious cat I am...

I'll be going to BKK for a biz trip after move-in, so am quite excited to see what I can buy over there. Any tips on shopping for furnishings n decor?

Satit mentioned that some companies has asked him to mass produce and other companies asked him to maintain quality standards. he personally believes in maintaining a high standard of quality when reproducing his collection. he was also smoking his ciggie like a towkay.

in the end we didn't get anything. everything is customised and will take some time. plus there were so many choices available. you can refer to his online catalogue and drop him an email at http://www.hawaii50bkk.com/

as for tips on shopping, i think its best to pick up some thai to get directions, ask for certain specifications and the fun part, to bargain without a calculator!

another shop we found should appeal to the folks here. the hoog shop loacated along sukhumvit soi 49-51 showcases products designed by young thai designers. it's like grafunkt and air but without the pricetag.

We didn't manage to take a actual picture of this, since it was used as what it is. But this is available for purchase too... It's huge, btw.

yet another site we went to was a large compound of furniture and furnishings stores. the crystal design centre located on the outskirts of lat phrao is really the one stop shop for furniture. lights, tiles, bathrooms etc all under this compound. if u've ever been to woodbury common outlets in usa, this would be it.

they have a wide selection and some shops carry the usual high end brands like vitra, magis, kartell etc. prices are the same, so shipping it here is not a good idea. but they have other cool stuff as well. i regret not taking many photos as we spend the day walking and browsing. didn't get much from this place.

i love this table
