Overlaying Of Floor And Wall Tiles

Recommended Posts

Hi, I just bought a second hand unit. As I am on tight reno budget, I am seriously considering cut costs by overlaying on my existing wall and floor tiles of my kitchen and toilets instead of hacking. Quotations from a couple of contractors shows very substantial savings .... abt $8k in total.

I am thus seeking comments from those who have done similar reno works if you experienced any major problems after doing so... such as tiles popped up... or.... tiles peeling / dropping from the walls. Also, what hidden costs or blind spots should I be looking out for before signing the contract?

Many thanks in advance for your invaluable comments, insights and sharing of experiences.

How about spraying epoxy paint over the tiles?

Pro: Much cheaper than overlay, no need to worry whether the tiles will pop whatever

Con: Paint will fade after 5 years, so have to spray epoxy paint again
