zacksg73 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2011 Armacell class 1 armaflex is class "1" armaflex insulation F stand for 3/8 inch thick H stand for 1/2 inch thick M stand for 3/4 inch thick The 1/4 (0.8cm) or 3/8 (1cm) or 1/2 (1.5cm) indication on the insulation stand for the diameter of the holes. Thank you Aaron. I thought the 3/8 is = 3/8inch, and keep arguing with my aircon installer LOL... I guess I owe him an apology

ipaq4444 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2015 sorry for digging up this thread.anyone know if when I upgrade the insulation to 1/2 it is possible to to squeeze all the trunking into a 3x 2 trunking oralternatively can I dun upgrade the return coolant pipe - leave it as 3/8 and only upgrade the forward coolant pipe to 1/2? - will this configuration be able to let all the trunking for a system 4 go into a 3x 4 trunking? Acmelia 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2016 Hi everyone, I have been doing some research about aircon and got my aircon installed. I am sketical about their installation skill after I saw my copper pipe being exposed. The installer from g**n ***y assure me thats it's fine to have the copper wire exposed, since I am no expert in this, i can only take his words. A month later, I realised my insulation pipe for the aircon is peeling and chipping off like the attached image. It brings me to 2 conclusion, armacell's insulation pipe is of bad quality or the installer used fake armacell insulation pipe. Anyone has similar experience? Brandon Xue 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Yes It's usual practise for the wires to be expose. Based on my experience for the insulation foam, it's normal for wear and tear as it's exposed to the outdoor weather and sun. As times goes by, the insulation will sort of degrade and if there is a heavy rain, it may even peel off due to the rainwater hitting onto the insulation. For myself, I diy a plastic board and stick it above the insulation hoping to reduce the wear & tear. I've seen some contractors wrapping aluminium tape onto the insulation for the expose part and i believe it's also a protective measure.
