gimz63251073 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2011 up to the HDB scholars to worry... option 1: En bloc everyone there was a building boom in the past, not sure when, where they relocate all the kampungs... so there will come a time when they need to build like crazy to shift the people out of these old flats. Doubt they can ever do so.... option 2: renew lease get people to top up $ for renewal of lease but what will happen to those who are no longer working and unable to top up lease? as they no longer sell flats at subsidised rates, they would not allow top up lease at subsidised rates. my guess is there will be a combination of option 1 and 2. but then, im not a scholar. bepgof 20 Report post Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) Some were built in 1950s by the then Singapore Improvement Trust. HDB formed om 1 Feb 1960. Queentown is the first satellite town, follow by toa payoh. The Bukit Ho Swee fire, in May 1961 was then a "test" to HDB. What's HIP? I changed almost everything for the 32-year old flat after buying, except main door's frame - sentimental value. http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10320p.nsf/w/...ry?OpenDocument Oh! Home Improvement Programme (HIP) http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10328p.nsf/w/...IP?OpenDocument The Home Improvement Programme (HIP) helps you, the flat owners, to deal with common maintenance problems related to ageing flats, such as spalling concrete and ceiling leaks, in a systematic and comprehensive manner. Essential Improvements include: * Replacement of waste pipes * Repair of spalling concrete * Repair of structural cracks * Replacement of pipe sockets * Upgrading of electrical supply Optional Improvements include: * Upgrading of toilets/bathrooms * Replacement of entrance door * Replacement of grille gate * Replacement of refuse chute hopper You spent big $ to redo the whole house.
