therat 18 Report post Posted June 16, 2011 I purchase my big item from BCE too.Like fridge, washing machine, hood, hob, 2 set TV.When I do online registration for the warranty, one of the item (can't remember which one) shown, the shop name is Goh AH Bee. Another item shown another shop name @ Bedok South. Personally, I don't quite like Mustafa. I worry abt the warranty. They do sell things cheap but w/o warranty aka export set. As quite a number of Indian tourist buy TV, etc from them and bring home. B'coz it is cheaper and they don't need local warranty. And the next reason is I don't like to shop that area. It make me very uncomfortable. Narrow walking space. And another P shop just few store away from BCE, my husband went to ask for information. He say.. the sale person very impatience and yaya. Don't want to tell him how much is the item.Told my husband , unless he confirm his order. Or else he will not review the price. Only give my husband a price range. My husband prefer BCE b'coz he say.. the uncle still entertain him even he visit that shop 3-4 X to check the price and ask question before he place order.P already shown impatience on 2nd visit liao
Bunnymummy 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2011 Hi! I bought my LG front load washing machine and a dishwasher from this shop @ Bukit Merah Lane 1 called Hong Liang. Prices are $30-$70 cheaper than big electronic malls. They don't have a big range but if you can find the model you want there then of course more worthwhile. It's intro-ed to me by my dad who is their loyal customer... I am prob going to call them up because I want to buy a Panasonic microwave too. However I think that sometimes big electronic shops can be cheap too. E.g. sometimes got warehouse sale (Courts sale now on at Singapore Expo), or free gifts or vouchers. So really depends.
archenemy 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2011 each has its pros & cons lah...smaller shops are usually run by the boss and/or family members...because its their own business and their attitude will directly affect the income of their dad/brother/uncle/themselves..they tend to be friendlier and more helpful...not to mention the lower rent & overheads...some of these shops dont even have credit card machines because it will only add to their cost...and most do not allow credit card installments because it will cost them 2.75-3.5% levy on the price.big boys..big shops...hefty rentals because their shop is usually in shopping centres...they need to hire admin staff..finance staff...warehouse staff....HR staff..these people are support..and their salaries have to be paid because they do not generate sales...equating to higher profit margins...however..having high turnover also means they they usually get a better price from the manufacturers and agents..and the ability to keep stock for popular models... strikingreality 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2011 I really think it depends on timing and when as well?Like yesterday I went to Gain City Expo Sales, for the items that I am interested in, I actually called up K*** T** to check prices. Turned out the Gain City Expo Sale was actually cheaper. For me the good thing about shopping at the bigger boys is that they accept cards (can collect credit card points) and when they have Expo Sales, I think the prices are quite competitive. However, give me the actual savings anyday. I rather pay for a lower price, then the freebies or the 12 month installment.
strikingreality 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2011 I'm looking for 4units of 32" LG/Samsung LED TV, 2units of 32" LCD Samsung/LG TV, 1unit of 40" LCD/Samsung LED TV. Went to BXXX DXXXX today and the service was horrible. The sales person was not paying attention to my questions asked and was distracted by duno what. No eye contact and look like he can't be bothered with me. Am i buying too little or what?Moving in Sep and was wondering if i should wait for Comex sale in Sep. They don't provide installation and said this is chargeable at $50/unit (total $300 can buy a cheap 32" LCD already) and i can't be installing all 6units of 32" myself right. In this scenario does places like G*A*B* provide installation? (either wall mount or install the stand) coz i ever bought 1 unit from Kallang (Megamall) and i have to install myself (ok 1unit took me an entire night an a broken gel nail and i had to redo my set of manicure totally not worth it!)Er, I think it is a bit late to tell you, but you should have gone to the Gain City Sale. Anyway, since you are buying so many items, you can consider going to the smaller shops like GAB, Kong Tai, BCE etc. They would be able to offer you a better disc as compared to the big names. Re Comex - I was at the IT show in June, and I saw Harvey Norman actually offering free delivery and installation, iirc. But depends on the retailer lah. Especially you order so many unit.
