The Best Journey Always Leads Us Home

Recommended Posts

No leh, I dont see anyone buying as much as you. I only have a few purchases only. Nothing fantastic as yours. :)

I also don't see much in my house until today. Later will post pic.

Well, I'm not furnishing the other room at all, so concentrating on the other areas, which requires furnishings, and everything brand new since we're not moving from an existing place, ie. no pots & pans/electricial goods to bring over or 3 King beds!! :P

Only bringing in our personal effects like clothes and computers. Even a spatula or dishwashing liquid and rubbish bags need to be bought so probably seems like I'm buying more - or perhaps, I simply just post more! :P

Don't see what's fantastic about my purchases - they're all very common? Furnishings from Hommage, Ikea and iwannagohome, lights from lightings.com and Ikea, sanitary stuff from Hoe Kee, LP, Poh Joo and Ideal Bathrooms.

Don't think I'm quite so worthy of the Shopping Queen title :(

i can help in cantonese songs if you need  why need to remove your choice from the song list? you can have both rite :P

I only know Jacky Cheung so chose of his cantonese songs  As for Mandarin, I simply picked Teresa Teng since the older folks will definitely know her songs and I do love her old-time voice.

Only can have like 22 songs so need to remove :P

Oh well, the glitz chrome lamp didn't go through in the end - they have someone who personally goes through all the orders and my non-US credit card got refunded - I wanted it from that store because it was on sale for US$50, which is pretty worth it, if not it's US$100 from Amazon excluding shipping so opted against it :( But it's okay, don't need that many lamps anyway. Got a mix-and-match one from Ikea instead.

About the pots and pans, I'll need to consult Mae or whoever cooks a lot to tell me what some of the accessories are meant for. *shame* Everything is in German omg! Wouldn't have the same problem if it were written in Swedish~ I've worked out that one is a grater, one is a steamer, and another is for deep frying, and there are temperature gauges on every lid, but there are some really weird accessories...

Grater, yes? Not some steaming thingy right??

Looks like it

What is this holed rim??

5656740272_a9bb3d7b7d.jpg

Steamer plate (you have it upside down I would guess) or for you to cook with and the fat runs off to the sides giving healthier food (again the pic is upside down). This would be great for Chicken.

What is this knob for??

Timer ? Difficult to tell from the picture.

Google translate could be your friend, or if not, could at least provide you with a laugh with its weird translations of the manual.

Edit:

Ok, their catalogue is here (descriptions in English as well as other languages).

Your grater is on page 23. Cannot find the item in your second picture though. Still sticking to the healthy chickin cooking raised tray to let fat run off :D.

Ooh, thanks RB for the link. Am now pretty sure mine is the Gourmet Pro series, though it doesn't state what that weird rim is for. I don't think it's for steaming as there's already a steamer or maybe I'm really placing it upside down  It's a weird rim that can be placed in the frying pan or one of the bigger pots...

The knob is just a rubberised plastic knob - on the catalogue, it says "suction knob", whatever that means...

Thanks very much for this RB! <3

OMG mystery solved. I r retarded~

Under Grater 3 pieces (3rd item under Set) - the rim is meant to be used with other pots so the grater can be used for the larger pots as well~ So now, I'm wondering where that 3rd piece (weird stick like thingy) is~

Nice shopping again... hahahaha....

i am going to shower then start packing again.

These were things bought from long ago! They don't really count~

At least cookware, crockery, cutlery, kitchen stuff is all settled. Only thing I'm missing are the curtains/blinds/wallpaper.

Dare I mention it?

Well, Shopping Queen has done her title some justice today.

Got the chaise from iwannagohome, but in a different print - it suddenly appealed so much more to me, and two cushions I thought complemented it well. Replaced the cookie-cutter black stackable shoe cabinets from Ikea for a dark walnut wood finish cabinet for the landing outside the main door. Forgot to take pictures again so will have to wait for the delivery on Friday before I post some pics. Also picked up my pop-art vanity stool from Lifestorey for less than $100.

I can't seem to find a chandelier style floor lamp - anyone know where to get one? There was one The Husband was transfixed by at iwannagohome but it only came in red :( Now scouring the net to find something similiar that would ship for a reasonable fee. Something that resembles this:

Sis Shopping Queen Ely :P can I check if you managed to source this lamp ? We're also looking for 2 to 3 standing lamps and I'll always visit your t-blog for inspiration :o:D

Nope :( Sadness. It will have to wait till next month at least as we're running very, very low on funds /cry

I saw some on alibaba, but they require a min. order of 20 pcs, and I'm too slack to organise some group buy. We went to check out some lighting shops but couldn't find anything similiar. There's one at iwannagohome for $499: (something similiar but not what we're looking for)

This was the one we wanted, but no more stock and none coming in anymore:
