The Best Journey Always Leads Us Home

Recommended Posts

Thanks Ely! Would love to see your place (and your amazing online buys!). Am pretty sure I'll be poisoned to buy something I never thought I'd needed after the visit. :bleah:

Just to add, I think you are gorgeous too. :D

I'm not allergic, but I may jump or give an uncontrollable scream if your pets do something unexpected near me... residue bad reaction to a horrid childhood experience with a stray dog... I can usually control myself tho... :bleah:

Greetings Duchess,

Would love to have you over and continue our conversation :) You were a little shy at first but warmed up soon after. Haha, maybe I'll convince you to get that wine chiller afterall! :P

Thank you, Adidaem. Very sweet of you to say so. Now, all we need is The Husband to think the same! :D

Don't worry, pets will be crated (seeing that most are either phobic or allergic). They'll be fine in their crates - being crate-trained when they were young. They would most likely be really confused why they're not joining in the party as they love being in the center of all activity :)

eh... my deh power not so "powderful" lah. if you deh, i am sure you will overtake me. hehehe.... :dribble:

oh.. forgot to say, don't pout or stomp your feet. that just show you are like a little girl. No men likes little girls (unless its their daughters)... they like women that are weak and depends on them. so stroke their ego instead and use that "tone" to melt their hearts.....

I tried the "tone" but it didn't work. Sigh, so much more to learn about Deh-ing. Think I can do better at being assertive instead. Just need to get myself really irritated before I start barking out orders! :P

no lah, i am sure you will never get vain or conceited. you have learnt humility since young.... pretty, gorgeous and humble! good combination!!!

Awwww  What a very nice thing to say, makes me feel so much more assured :)

Oh, I do my own kickboxing - Turbo Jam and Jillian Michaels. I also used to carry a 6-batt Maglite in my car in Australia. ;) No one messes with the 156cm lady! :P I'll just beat them with my tiny ineffectual fists!

One word for you.

Wing Chun.

Actually that's 2 words.

I used to do this. Check this out .....

hi crazy cat lady, thanks for the links to the cat heavens, really really tempting but i will hold off on the purchases till after we actually start renovations. much <3 for all the links and effort.

as for what RB & may has said, i totally agree - all of us asian women have been 'trained' from young to deflect compliments but we are all adults now and it is far more humble to just simply say thank you with a sincere smile then to strongly object especially when being paid compliments that are true. Like May, i dont simply pay lip service, if a person is fugly - i wont say anything at all re: looks. I know it's hard but hey we are all here :dancingqueen:you on your road to self confidence :) *steps off soapbox*

thanks again for the invite to your housewarming, if possible i will bring my zoo along; 2 small monkeys + 1 big one! :sport-smiley-004:

NP re: the links. I love shopping online anyway, even if it's just browsing :P

I hear you, sleek. Some days are easier, some days not so when my parents, with the best intentions in their heart, tell me everyday how ugly I am or how terrible a person I am, or how I should change the way I laugh and speak (they say I speak poor English), and even the way I walk. /boggle

I try not to let it get to me but it can inflict some serious self-doubt over time. I was seeing a therapist for a reason y'know~ It definitely helped some, until he hit on me and that plunged me further into hating my looks (or rather, the way I present myself).

"The defects and faults of the mind are like wounds in the body. After all imaginable care has been taken to heal them up, still there will be a scar left behind." - Francois de la Roche Foucauld

Bring the entire Amazon forest or Serengeti plains if you wish! :D

Cannot lah, people afraid - you can go (selectively) meet the pets in the common room :) I'll have each one in their own crate.

Having done Karate for a while, touched on Judo and Jujitsu I must say I much prefer the Kick Boxing although to be honest it is mainly boxing with me. The difference to me is the full contact. Not just throwing a punch at air or throwing and pulling back for semi-contact but connecting full force. My hands had quite a shock after a evening on the heavy bag and you soon learn to be more accurate. I tend to do bag work mainly now as I tend not to heal quite so fast anymore and have enough aches and pains. I also love the way that, like Kung Fu, it can be a dance where the momentum of one move can flow in to another. I enjoy it but I think this break from it has been good and I look forward to getting back in to it. I also need to improve my footwork so maybe a few dancing lessons...... I have been thinking about salsa for a while..... ;).

I've tried Zumba and Dance with Julianne - awesome fun! Turbo Jam also incorporates Capoeira and Tai-Chi so it's a fun workout. I just love how Jillian Michaels is super hardcore and really pushes me with every workout. Kelly-Coffey is another good one.

My little boy is doing TKD now at JH Kim. I tried to join him for awhile but the fancy high kicks just piss me off. Theoretically why kick someone to the face when you can elbow / punch?

Pity I didn't know earlier about your boxing. I just gave away a 70 lbs Everlast bag.

I would love for my son at some stage to learn to box, far more useful and practical than TKD.

My daughter is such a girly girl so martial arts does not interest her.

My last full contact sparring session was some 16 years back. Wing Chun training @ Roger Smart's in Perth. I could not walk for 3 days after.

I watched Ipman! Besides, I know crazy Pyroblast moves and Polymorph into Sheep! Bah!

- Ely

Ip Man was an opium addict, unable to walk very much in his later years. The foot work for wing chun is somewhat diluted because of this.

I digress.
