My wallet is like those in the cartoons - when I open it moths fly out.

Worse when my wife opens her wallet, her credit card flies out....to the gleeful arms of the sales person.

Hooked up the Ushers today with the amp...and maaaan, it's pretty sweet :) Tried the computer, an iPhone and the iPods.

Am quite happy with the purchase - the sound is very crisp, clear and detailed so it's best with instruments and vocals, so they shine a lot with jazz. They fall a little flat with the pop and house music - the bass doesn't seem to go low enough, but this works out okay if I turn on the SRS boost or Winamp DFX if playing through the computer.

Um, excuse the mess:

These will sit prettily on my chest of drawers in the Master bedroom. Lively tunes to get ready to :P Will remove the top of the amp when we move in - love the pretty lights and "magic eye"! <3

Bluray and DVD collection - first batch packed!

Hi sleek,

Thanks for stopping by :) I say, let those credit cards be free! You know you wanna ;)

I've read up on animal allergies for years and have never heard of the anal glands as a cause. I'll look more into it - thanks! There's currently a vaccine in development, stuff you can add to your pet's food to reduce saliva production, and steroid jabs I can take regularly so awaiting the vaccine with much-abated breath!

My two rescue cats roam a lot so I don't get too allergic to them, unless they sneak in to snooze with me at night.

Thank you for your well wishes - hopefully, the home turns out the way I picture it. You never know with carpentry... ><

Ely, our cards are already wounded from the buying we have started doing for the new place even though we are only up to exercising the otp and we haven't even sold off our current place yet! LOL and I am still clicking rapidly on Amazon & planning more purchases for the new place consistently , gotta chalk up those credit card reward points somehow, heh :notti:

Our cats used to sleep with us but they have been banished out to the living room/ kitchen since the kids came along, anyway the hb developed adult asthma last year so it wont do to have them sleeping with us either.

Everything will work out, if not get it rectified to your satisfaction :)

P/S: Love the photo of the Cheezecat who refuses to move!

REPOST

Paintings from Bali framed:

The now-ominious elephant >< So should have gotten the zebra that ne0 saw too, but the driver was telling us what a revered animal the elephant is so got it instead:

5633208703_48c70bf066_m.jpg

deja vu. i remember i said something bout the bali paintings. then i remembered that the forum was down, so there was some who reposted their entries. ha!

yes, I would definitely opt for the zebra still, revered or not. hee

It is (shamefully) real cowhide - it took me a long time to get to terms with it because I'm such a huge animal lover. And even when it came, I spent half an hour stroking it and saying "poor baby". I tried looking for faux cowhide but it was all pile which is really detrimental to my asthma (I already take steroids and antihistasmines, inhalers and eyedrops and nasal sprays, on a daily basis just to keep it from escalating into full blown attacks or else I get hospitalised). It sounds ridiculous to anyone why I would insist on keeping pets if so, but to me, it's a small sacrifice to have them part of my life. All my volunteer work involves animals as well. We invested in good vacuum cleaners and everything anti-allergy, and I brush the pets' coats daily and bathe them weekly, which helps. My asthma specialist has accepted that I'll never give my pet ups so we work on managing it the best we can. :dunno:

The Husband tried to console me by telling me they were probably skinned after a trip to the abattoir so I'm going to believe him. I know it's distasteful so I apologise if I offended anyone by my purchasing of the cowhide. Trust me, it wasn't an easy decision for me either. We simply realised it was the best alternative for a rug. I'm more allergic to the cat than the dog (also, Chihuahuas are one of the breeds most recommended for people with asthma) due to their dander and saliva (which is deposited on the fur when they groom themselves) so Bondi won't be allowed into the bedroom. *sniffle* However, he's pretty used to it as he never slept in the bedroom while in Australia, but I'm struggling with the allergies now that he's sharing my bed at my parents' home.

Hopefully, we get to move in in 2 weeks :)

i can really relate to how you feel. is just like the case of deciding to have shark fins in the end for my wedding dinner.

i said no initially but u cannot imagine how tremendous the pressure was from the elder relatives (especially) and close mates to have them on the wedding table.

some even threatened (although jokingly) with "ang pow" money since there isnt going to be shark fins.

aaggghhh

these days.. i'm a strong believer in the law of attraction. as opposed to against people eating shark fin, or how much the chinese swear by the medical benefits from tiger parts, bear bile gall bladder.. i find more sense to put our energy and focus on loving them, discovering them on nat geo and praise them and letting more people know how magnificent these creatures are. more anti-terrorism campaigns is only going to cause more wars, more anti-drug movement is only going to create more drugs. more anti-shark fishing is only going to cause sharks being obliterated. simply put - "what you resist, persists", "attention flows where energy goes"

opps, heavy stuff for a monday morning but i read you loud and clear ely, you're a big big animal lover k.

and btw, sorry i'm gonna make this into an "Ask Ely - your Expert for Online Shopping" column~ :P

we just made our first online purchase on amazon last week kekeke  was told by hubby that we can't choose the delivery date and time with vpost, is that true?

then isn't it a real waste of resources for them... cos most likely the delivery man won't be able to reach us for the 1st visit, so we have to make arrangement for them to come a 2nd time? then why don't vpost just let us choose the delivery time from the beginning? hmmmmmm.......... :dunno:

I feel you, ma brathur. I was cringing the whole time when my parents-in-law said Sharks' Fin even after I deliberately took the banquet manager aside prior to not mention the shark's fin soup and to push the others instead. The wily tactic didn't work - PILs requested for it still. I had already planned and downloaded info tents to be placed on each table, informing the guests why we do not have sharks' fin and a friendly message about conservation. Further more, they are asking for the entire fin type, not the braised type with individual strands! The only thing I now request is that I not be present during the shark's fin dish - it would literally break my heart. It just doesn't sit right with me. I'll just excuse myself for the change to evening gown then. I know the argument of being hypocritical since I'm not a vegan (I actually don't eat ANY vegetables at all - no beansprouts, no spring onion in anything - NONE) but it's a little different when they're reared for produce. :( Sometimes I wish I eat veggies, so I can just order salads all the time, be true to my beliefs AND remain slim. Not a perfect world at all. :(

Really regretting the purchase of the elephant over the zebra especially with the way the apartment's decor is shaping up. Sigghhhhh. I spotted a similiar one at Ikea but really didn't want to spend extra on a bad decision due to silly Balinese talk !

Heya Marshy,

Thank you for your kind concern! It's very manageable with drugs, though it's something I'd have to revisit with my asthma specialist once we decide to get pregnant.

My mother saw Bondi for the first time after we collected him from the airport and exclaimed he's the ugliest cat she's ever seen ! He's not a conventional pretty cat like a ragdoll, or persian but he's a huge teddy bear with the best nature ever so I wouldn't want him to change a single bit. He's one of those cats who's perfectly content with sitting at your feet, doesn't meow or ask for attention, greets you whenever you're home or wake up, follows you around the house. He has a motor purr that can be heard from feet away - just so content looking at you adoringly. (How we wish husbands are like that~)

Haven't explored TCM treatment at all - do they also offer such treatments? It's something I've been battling with for a long time - I'm even allergic to my own sweat and the sun, so it's tough. If it could be alleviated, I would give anything a try. I already pop more than 10 pills a day, excluding multi-vitamins and pine bark and maca root and anything to boost immunity.

Congrats and welcome to Online Shoppers Annoymous! Reglxt would perform the initiation ritual.

No, you can't choose delivery times/dates - it's best to direct it to your workplace, if they're understanding. Bulky parcels might be a problem though - having to lug back heated towel rails home from work~ Or else, they leave you a slip, and you can either make arrangements for an alternative delivery online or pick it from the nearest post office. They also do not consolidate the shipments like Borderlinx/DHL does - they deliver the parcels once payment is made and when the parcels reach Singapore, ie. if you paid for 5 parcels, and 3 have already arrived in Singapore, they'll send those first, and the other two will arrive whenever they are processed in Singapore. I currently have all stuff delivered to my parents' home where someone is always home (maid or mom :P). Too many shipments delivered to the office isn't too good for my rep :P Everyone is always hustling what's in the boxes

LOL hope i won't get to badly addicted  and ya thanks for your advice, sending to office sounds like a viable idea... will ask hubby to consider this ;) hmmm hubby said he read on the FAQ that collecting from post office is not possible? hmmmm maybe he should read again :P

yes, TCM will helps.

Plus i too feel, tcm is better, as least its natural herbs as compared to medication wor.

for TCM, while they have herbs to combat specific problems (e.g. sniffing nose), it focuses on a holistic improvement on your health, which is the way to cure illness and boost immunity~ i have yet to try it but going to try soon~ ;)

and ya i too feel that the idea of consuming (bitter) herbs is better than receiving daily doses of nasal spray~ but one thing about TCM in Singapore is, it seems to be quite loosely regulated so you should get recommendation from others on who are the good and reliable doctors.

i once asked my ENT specialist what is the best solution for my sinus problem. he said i should be allergic to tropical air (which has more fungus floating around), so the best solution is to move out of Singapore hahahaha
