Which Should Come First - Plastering Or Electrical Casement?

Please help.

My electrician and contractors are hired separately.

My electrician is insisting that the casings should be nailed to the walls first before plastering, giving reasons such as the plastering will look better after that.

My contractor is saying that the casements should only be done after plastering, as then, the walls are smooth!

Which is more correct?

for my own reno, plastering is done first, electrical trunking later. then just before painting, they do some touch up with plaster between the trunking and the wall.

If you plaster before electical

- The side of the electrical trunking will have alittle gap.

- In future if you want to make any changes to your electrical wiring you will not face problem for uneven/track mark wall.

If you plaster after electical

- The finishing will look nicer because the trunking side will not have gap and the trunking will look slighly smaller.

- You will be faceing alot of problem if you want to change the electrical point position.

However my recommendation is to take up the plastering after electrical works.

- Most of the owner will not change the position of the electical works.

Marshmallow is recommending the better way of work.

(for my own reno, plastering is done first, electrical trunking later. then just before painting, they do some touch up with plaster between the trunking and the wall.)

No Gap on casing as painter or electrician will seal or cover up the gap
