[help!] Wall Tiles Mis-aligned

Help! Need every bros and sis to advise me:

(photo below)

Situation:

MBR toilet has 2 types of Wall tiles - common (2 sides of wall) + featured (1 side of wall).

Tiles went up today. I went on-site to see, realized featured wall tiles are mis-aligned with the common wall tiles.

Rung up my ID immediately to inform him that its its not acceptable and the tiles have to align.

Main problem:

Common tiles are 600 x 300mm (laid horizontally)

Featured tiles are 600 x 330 (also laid horizontally)

Need solutions!

What is the best solution right now?

If there are remaining tiles, can they return the balance and use that rebated amount to buy a different type of tiles ?

Based on my own understanding with ID practices, tiles are purchased in cartons, not in loose pieces. So chances r your ID will not be able to return those tiles to their suppliers & have them exchanged for other designs.

If you want a second opinion and rectification by another contractor, please PM me for the contact number of a cement specialist whom I would be using for my own reinstatement of walls (HDB) in March.

Hi, thanks for your advise.

I do have other types of tiles for other rooms (kitchen, rooms, etc), that there will be boxes of tiles unopened. So will my ID be able to returned those unopened tiles so there's enough $$ to get a fresh set of featured wall tiles for my MBR toilet (only 20 pcs needed).

Actually I do have the same issue like you too - feature tile is bigger than the common tiles. My ID told me beforehand and the solution is to ask the tiler to cut the feature tiles to match the common tiles size. But, it has the possibility of chip tile at the edge when they cut the tiles. So, I asked my ID to replace the chip tiles before putting up.

It is possible for the ID to return the unopened tiles. My ID order 4 boxes extra and end up return 3 boxes. Left 1 box for me as spare.

Personally I would check with the tile shop first to find out whether they have tiles that I want which are of the correct size. Coz you may have to hunt around a bit if that particular shop you bought it from at first doesn't have the correct tile size

If there are tiles of the correct size, then I would remove those that are the "wrong size" and get them realigned.

If I still cannot find the tiles of the correct size, then no point removing the feature tiles etc.

For my reno, I changed my mind at the last minute to use a different coloured tile to set my bathtub. I managed to get my contractor to return the unused tiles. I did not get a 100% price refund, but I think I managed to return it for 70% of its purchase price. So long as it's still in it's carton and undamaged, you should be able to return it or swop it.

For me, my ID selects the tiles for me and I only gave the nod whether I like the colour.

We have more ranges of floor & wall tiles for my extreme makeover. During tiling, it was the tiler who called me & asked for my decision if he had problem with alignment. This happened to the floor tiles at the kitchen foyer. He was instructed to take alignment from kitchen foyer entrance, but this means that he could not achieve the alignment at the kerb of our side door entrance.

For your case, see if you can replace one row on each side with those mosiac tiles?
