tangerinez 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 Hi tangerinez, How did your 1st appt go? Hope everything went smoothly for you guys. And when's the 2nd appt scheduled to be? hi Errandz! just realized both our flats are 122sqm. but how come you have an extra room, so envy!!! and your toilets are side by side. i like! i'm so going to stalk your blog! 1st appointment was ok. Uneventful except the seller agent managed to piss us off big time (once again) but implying that we are thieves. *angry* Seller didn't want to give in on early completion so had to schedule 2nd appointment exactly 8 weeks later. i hate how the rules all favour the seller and never the buyer. 2nd appointment is on 28th April, a day later than yours... Hey tangerinez, Actuali the room doesnt seem to be a very good thing.. It makes the living room quite a bit smaller plus it loses most of the natural light.. The only place that light enters now is from the balcony.. Also its shape is an L cos of the room.. If you didnt mention the toilets I wouldnt have realised your master is at the corner of the house. I envy you for that! My wife and I want our master to be the corner room (we feel there's more privacy), and so we have to hack a wall and build another wall to swap the MBR with the rm beside.. And its funny you mention stalking my blog, cos I am already stalking yours seeing as to how we have very similar appt dates and floor plans too.. But note my disclaimer, there's really very lil we're probably going to be doing, so you might not find much on our blog.. Dun bother with the agent la.. His/her aim is to grate on nerves in the hope that they can try and guilt buyers into a higher price.. It rarely happens but then there are the naive souls out there after all.. If he had been your agent, he'd probably be complaining to the sellers then that they are robbing you instead.... Same situation for us too. The seller want completion as late as possible. But we are ok with it as at the moment we aren't really rushing, yet... I suppose we just have to hope that the rules favour us many years down the road if we wanna sell our places... Errandz 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2011 Oh, have you started your ID/contractor hunt? I shortlisted about 4 (contractors for my case; expect IDs all more ex) at the moment, but I don't know if its too early to starting hounding them.
tangerinez 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2011 hee, i envy you, you envy me... we'll end up loving our own place anyhow! it's such an exciting thing, having a place to call our own, isn't it? so far we have: - sent floorplans to 6 contractors/IDs - of which, had 1st meetings with 4 of them, - had 2 meetings with 1 of them - haven't heard from 1 of them we are also considering to go ala-carte: get a free-lance designer and then source for individual contractors ourselves. currently still a little confused about the direction to go. guess will have a clearer picture after tomorrow's fengshui audit. looking forward to that! when u say you shortlisted 4, do you mean you have approached all 4 of them already? any good vibes so far? I so agree with you on how exciting it is to have our own place. The wife and I are really looking forward to it. Almost as much as we looked forward to getting hitched. And my shortlisted 4, I haven't even contacted them.. Have been busy with work and what nots week after week and haven't even made a call out.. I really should.. Sound like a lover. Yup, I been through that... Being ignored by contractors. That is why it's better to used recommended by people. Sure will get response. Ya, took me 6 weeks to find a fridge, 3 weeks for oven, 3 weeks for mixer, 2 weeks for aircon, and 2 weeks for washing machine. So, have fun!!! Hehe.... Ya, took me 6 weeks to find a fridge, 3 weeks for oven, 3 weeks for mixer, 2 weeks for aircon, and 2 weeks for washing machine. So, have fun!!! Hehe.... I totally understand the feeling of being ignored. Wrote so many emails with floorplans (about 20 firms) etc, and got like 3 replies. Best to call and speak a little, then say "I'm sending you my floorplan, when should we set up an appointment to meet and discuss?". Learnt that this truly is the most effective way to go. Get someone recommended by the good folks on renotalk so you'll feel less apprehensive and remember to read the T&C! Many appear to be the same quotation but have a lot of hidden costs. Haha Maydream, I think I'm more of an impulse (or impatient) buyer - did some reading on renotalk and research on the Net, and bought everything in one day. Upon getting home, I do more research and start wondering what I should change about my order, so it's good that you actually took the extra time! The bed was a different matter though, totally lost count how many I've laid in, got so fed up at lying down and trying to remember "the feel" that I bought the last one I tested that felt plush. And pricing usually will better as well. Ely, i sent you a pm regarding your washing machine. no reply from you yet. I do not want to buy on impulse.... but for this time, just want to be extra sure.... hehehehe....
