Hacking & Building Walls On Laminate Flooring

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just to check if I wish to hack off an existing wall and rebuild another 1(to enlarge the room), do I need to remove the laminate flooring? Can the new wall be built on top of the laminate flooring?

Anyone can advise? Thanks! :D

New Wall must be cemented/ nailed down to the structural floor.

Laminate flooring is not even glued down, but just tongue/groove/glue to each other.

Also, wall and floor have different expansion rates, so sure will have gaps later on.

oic thanks for the reply! In that case can I just replace the few pieces of laminate around the hacked portion and the new wall area? Reason being the existing laminate flooring are in good condition and it would be a waste to replace everything :P
