eggroe 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) how are you enclosing the roof garden? if it is totally enclosed, the MCST may stop you from doing so because (1) it affects the facade of the building; and (2) it may cause the GFA of the development to be exceeded. also, not sure if you can change the position of the WC so drastically. Congrats in getting your 1st home, to build as lively nest with your girl. I am sure she says yes... Haha.... I think you have to check with condo mgmt whether you are allowed to change something outdoor to enclosed area. Like what epigram said, condo have restrictions too. Oh, I forgot to mention that the original floor plan is actually inaccurate. The kitchen area should be as per floorplanner.com.. Whoops!! and thank you both for your heads up.. Have already checked with the MCST on this and well, he says all our neighbours have already done so.. So long as none of the residents complains, it should be fine.. Hahaha.. But on the 2nd point.. Hmm.. Point to consider.. But if it's not a common property, it should be fine right? Oh, and thanks May.. She did say yes.. But I think she only said yes cos I was on bended knee in a restaurant.. *shy* Edited March 1, 2011 by eggroe

Seriously, no idea yet.. Probably 1-2 years down the road? No savings left after purchasing the property and the renovations/furnishings.. Meals are only once per day now.. :'( On a more serious note, anyone mind sharing with me how they purchase lightings from Malaysia? As in, any procedures to go through customs? My reno needs a LOT of downlights/T5's..

Wah.. But nowadays, hotel bookings etc requires at least 1 year booking in advance!! Also, renovation will take up most of our time, so effectively will have only approx 300 days to plan!! Hmm.. Nah.. actually, having all white hair doesn't sound too bad.. Think Richard Gere.. Updates above Question: So anyone has any experiences buying lights from Malaysia? eggroe 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2011 The kitchen Initially, the kitchen wasn't part of the renovation.. It looked fine when we first got the place.. But obviously, WTB and I weren't thorough enough.. After signing the S&P, checked the place out again and realised that it was actually falling apart.. The photos can't really capture the actual condition of the kitchen.. ...The cabinet doors was spoilt, the whole area was quite stained and oily.. Turned on the hood and ironically, the whole kitchen started to smell like stale oil.. Then the neighbours advised us to change the floor tiles as well.. Apparently developers used some tile (which actually looked quite nice) but it gets black VERY easily.. and the stains are not removable!! Bleah.. So in the end, additional expenses for us.. Gotta redo the whole kitchen.. Which is a good thing in a way.. We can get the fridge we wanted etc.. One thing I fail to understand though.. What's the point of having a smaller sink at the corner of the kitchen? Seems totally pointless to me.. HACK!!!
eggroe 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2011 Fast forward to 26/2/11 Hacking begins!! Main areas for hacking is the kitchen and the outdoor roof garden (for my future WIW) When I first got there, was so glad to see that all rooms has a protective flooring over them.. Phew.. After reading some blogs about how no protective flooring was placed, I reminded red audi a couple of times.. He must find me really irritating Hackers was already halfway done with the kitchen.. Pity my neighbor.. Think he works from home.. When you try to be a nice person Learnt through the hard way.. If you're too nice, people tend to take advantage of you.. The previous owners were really friendly when we looked at the place.. Told us lots of things which we eventually found out were lies (not to mention filthy).. One example is the tv console table below.. (the ugly yellow thing in the middle of the living room) When he handover the condo to us, we immediately asked him, why was there a tv console left behind? us: what is the tv console doing here? him: Oh, the neighbor upstairs told me she would like to have it us: okayyy.. so why hasn't she collected it? him: she's trying to get help to move it up cos it's quite big.. us: so when might that be? him: some time next week us: in the event she doesn't collect it, then how? him: don't worry.. she'll definitely come take it Ok. So we thought, we shouldn't be petty and trust him.. Well, bad move.. Few days later, the neighbor contacted us.. wanted to ask us about our ID cos she wanna renovate her place too.. Then she told us "I said no such thing!" and started complaining about the ex-owner.. So we contacted the ex-owner again and told him that she doesn't want it.. And so he says "is that so? Ok.. I'll call the salvation army to collect it then".. Fine, we let him be and told him to let us know within the next 2 days.. 2 days passed, and still he hasn't called us.. We called him back and told him, if you dont want to dispose it, you've got to bear the costs.. We asked for 50 not knowing the market price for disposal as it is quite huge.. A day later, he transferred 20 dollars over with a msg "i think this is fair settlement".. WTF right?? lies after lies and he has the nerves to tell me this? Ok, to some this might not seem like a huge issue, but there's actually more lies.. Can't really share the story here though.. sensitive.. Moral of the story: Don't be too nice to people.. P.s. if anyone notices the darkened plank on top of the tv console, the story will be in my next post
eggroe 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2011 The darkened plank warning: the following post is rated MA for mature audiences. It contains nudity, gore and excessive mutilation. Children reading this should be accompanied by a responsible adult AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! TERMITES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes ladies and gentleman.. The house has termites!! WTB and I started panicking (or rather me.. Cos she wasn't there to see them work).. Then started the calls to various exterminators for quotes and etc.. Having sleepness nights thinking about what those termites could/would have already done to the house while we're not around.. All our timber floors, GONE!!! AAAAAAAAAhhh.. Nightmare!! See those saw dusts on the left most of the mortar base, that's where the piece of termite infested wood was found.. Found out about termites on a Wednesday.. Spent the day and next day contacting exterminators who are able to inspect for a fair price.. Finally found one on Thursday who is able to inspect the place on Friday.. Phew.. Unfortunately, due to work obligations, wasn't able to be there when the inspector was there.. Left it all to my ID.. Hopefully he told the inspector to check thoroughly.. I must say, we place a lot of trust in him.. Hehe.. The conclusion, the place no longer has termites.. Maybe in the past.. But they were probably completely exterminated by the previous owner.. Thinking back, if the termites were still active, I think all the wooden door frames, parquets etc would have been completely devoured by them.. Since nothing happened, I think it should be pretty safe?? *fingers crossed*
