ArchAngelz 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2011 Hi, I've done some research which suggests that for Singapore, if we want to use engineered wood floor, we should get one which uses hevea as the core. Yet others suggests that it makes no difference. My question is, does it really make a difference? The shop says that humid weather like Singapore use hevea better; but of course they could be just getting business for themselves! Then there's another shop in SG that sells engineered wood using pine core; won't run into problems? Any insight would be appreciated.
morganwu 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2011 hmm, what did the shop say about hevea?
ArchAngelz 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2011 That it is more suitable for humid weather in Singapore, and less prone to warping or popping out after installation. hmm, what did the shop say about hevea?
morganwu 0 Report post Posted February 1, 2011 i wouldnt claim to be an expert in this. a quick check on wiki shows that hevea is the botanical name of rubber tree. rubber wood is very unstable, prone to warping and rots easily when soaked in water. if hevea = rubber wood (you got to check out with the shop), then what the shop claimed about hevea being more suitable for singapore's weather is incorrect. rubber wood and pine as the core should have the same problems.
