Hello all,

I will record down my reno journey here, please share me your comments!
Any questions are most welcomed too! smile.gif

As usual, after a long while of searching for IDs, we have managed to shrink our selection to 2 worth mentioning here.

a) Ben from Summit Design

Summit design is one of the few that gives 3D drawings,is an ID firm yet offers competitive prices compared with contractors.
Ben, one of the popular designers mentioned in Summit Design thread, is humorous and responsive.( called us the next day after I send in the request form late evening!) One who can click also instantly when talking to him. Budget is good and he is quite meticulous too. Quotation fits our budget perfectly, so we decided to use him. smile.gif

Deposit is placed and the 3D drawings are produced promptly. Less than a week after I made payment.

I found the theme abit monotonous, so I added some colours.

Tentatively should be this design and concept.

congrats! another fellow SDS customer. hope u will have a rewarding reno journey ahead.

few things to highligh on SDS work:

Good points:

1. competitive pricing;

2. good carpentry work; and

3. good ceiling work;

4. good electrical work whom they will refer you to Soon Lee Electrical (ah soon).

Areas of improvement (pls monitor them closely):

1. Mansorny work (some tiling not even on wall and floor; erected walls are TERRIBLE);

2. paint work is half-hearted;

3. workers like to smoke, poo and throw rubbish at ur place. only until the 2nd last day, all the mess were cleared from my site.

So, where is ur DBSS? i am surprised DBSS still need to do reno. thought everything more or less provided as it is already? what's the scale of your reno work? :D

Thanks steelze! I visited your blog, very detailed! While I was doing my research on the ID firms, I visited your blog too and used it as a reference for the services of Summit Design.:)

Fortunately, my only masonry work is to add a platform for my washer.

No wonder the painting work so cheap! Not so good heh, will have monitor this point.thanks for highlighting!btw, besides color variations, in terms of quality, there is no difference between ICI and Nippon paint right?

Mine is a new DBSS at Simei Lane. Yes you are right that almost all the stuff are in. My renovation consist only of featured walls for dining/living/tv, concealment wall for the home shelter,false ceilings,baywindow ledges top,Mbr bed headboard,study table and tv console for both the study room and living room.not forgetting the masonry work for the washer and painting services and other misc charges.

Total around 12k + excluding lightings installation.

Ben said approx 5 weeks, hopefully can be faster.

Btw,your baby looks really cute!:)
