understand there is already a thread related to this in the past: http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7444, however, to be more specific, as there is a switch at the area of where the backsplash suppose to be, hence am wondering possible to still use tempered glass instead of S/S? any bright advice or suggestion to this problem? Will it be better in this case, to use S/S instead of glass?

I had the same issue. I used a strip of high gloss black laminate that runs just above the top of backsplash. It's( the laminate strip) about 4 inches in ht and just below the the base of the upper cabinet. My switches are placed on that laminate strip.

Directly under the laminate strip is the glass backsplash. henc ethe switches don't actually have to be placed on the glass back splash.
