endlssorrow 1 Report post Posted January 18, 2011 my ID charged me $850 for uploading sand & material, $450 for clearing debris & haulage. Does this really cost that much? Can we pay to HDB appointed main contractor directly ourself? If yes, i heard about $300 only right?

edenstrauss 3 Report post Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) The IDs have to earn their bread & butter too so they will markup their pricing for every single piece of work involved. Otherwise, the IDs cannot survive without any lucrative profits / low margins. If you want to have it at a lower rate, you'll have to drop the ID and go ala-carte for your entire renovations, which is alot of work & hassle because u will take over the ID/ project manager's job in co-ordinating & overseeing their work. Meaning that, u need to get your own direct floor tiler, electrician, plumber, door installers, carpenter, etc. Sure save $$ on provision that all of them do a good job. Please PM me if you need to obtain a quotation from a licensed contractor who specialises in cement related works. I could provide you his mobile number. If it is a resale, the contractor will have to pay $$ to arrange the big metal bin to store all the debris. You can refer to hdb website for more info or there is a thread on hidden cost which you can refer to for ref.
