Glass Hob Shatters?

Recommended Posts

I have been shopping around for hobs and hoods. I was at Mega Discount yesterday and the sales lady told me that Glass hob is not all that safe, especially if you cook for more than 2 hours that it shatters and "blows". I cant imagine so many people using glass hobs if this were indeed the case. I tried googling for this but couldnt come up with much specifically.

Can anyone here help share their experience? Are glass hobs safe for cooking (< 3 hours, dont think we will ever cook more than that in one go) ??? Please help !!

Hi Maximus,

I'm using Fujioh glass hob for 3 years already. Sometimes I cook porridge/soup for about 4 hours. So far no problem.

What I like about glass hob is, cleaning is very easy. Stains that had been left unclean for sometime can easily come off.

Thanks Buibui. I was told that Fujioh is made in China so i wasnt very sure if i should be worried about that. Good to know you are having a good experience with them. Right now, i am trying to figure out whether Mayer products are a good buy (Ariston / Indesit / Delizia) as compared to Bosch and Brandt. My wife likes the Bosch a lot but we are trying to find the right model at the right price.

Normally the glass they used are tempered glass. Rinnai tempered glass hob do give Lifetime warranty. So far has not come across on tempered glass hob shatter due to heat unless the material itself already have impurities while during process if not, tempered glass is quite hard to shatter by itself.

Yeah I know Fujioh is not made is Japan although it's a Japan brand. I have many friends who use Fujioh and gave good comments so that's why i buy it. So far I don't have bad experience. *touch wood*. my mum also find it good that she also bought one for her own house.
