Duration For Renovation

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

I've just bought a house that is well maintained but requires minor renovations as the last time that they renovate is 10 over years. Now the tricky part is time constrain, I'll be getting my house keys on 7 Feb 2011 and is currently renting a flat which I'll handover to my landlord on 25 Feb 2011. I was thinking of doing minor renovations like hacking the kitchen cabinet, installing a frosted glass door between the kitchen and the living room. Can anyone please advise on what is the duration?

If fast hand fast leg, shd take no more than 4 weeks.

maybe you can list down the items you wanna do, so it's easier to comment?

in order to move in earlier, you can do some items after you move in, for e.g. capentry and glass door, provided you can tahan the dust

but some items, like hacking, plumbing, tiling... you must do before you move in. you'd gotta prioritize to do these items first.

btw, CNY is on 3 Feb. Contractors/workers probably won't start work until 10 Feb, and they will have a lot of back log to clear. something you might need to take note ;)

I would like to thank both of your comments. What mashmallow said has a point, although I will get the keys on 07 Feb but the contractors/workers will not start on the next day due to CNY. I'll have to priortise things like doing a built in wardrobe, hacking and installing a kitchen cabinet and painting of the whole house before I move in whereas the rest have to wait. I can't afford to be too ambitious due to time constrain.

At the same time, I would like to ask another question which is I've bought a bedroom set (however not delivered yet) out of impulse then realised that it is better to do a built in wardrobe so any advice? Thanks in advance
