Never Buy Wrought Iron Gate From Homely (geylang(

Recommended Posts

Never buy wrought iron gate from them.. they are cheap but their gate sucks. I bought mine from them and it rusted after a month of installation. I called them back and they told me it was my fault as I stayed near the sea. They would only do touch up and charge me an exorbitant amount to garvonised it. Their service sucks .... Their reply when I asked them is it acceptable for the gate to rust in just a month is that there are no guarantees and it is common sense that the gate will rust... they also told me I checked the gate during installation so there is nothing I can do now.

Hi deb,

Although I'm not from the industry, I think it's ridiculous that they claim that staying near the sea corrodes your wrought iron gate within months. It as if they r saying that your place is bathed or buried in sea salt! :o

Do u think u'll want to report the matter to CASE? U could give them a buzz on their hotline and see what their consultants have to say first then decide on whether to pursue or jux drop the complaint.

If corrosion took place within months of installation, then chances r those wrought iron that were used to construct the gate have not undergone any galvanising. Not at all.

When I got my wrought iron gates from Metalworld Pte Ltd months ago, their workshop staff assured me that ALL their wrought iron parts had undergone cold galvanising, which is good enough for HDB flats. For those gates that baked under the hot sun for landed properties e.g. driveway gates, fencing grilles, they will require hot galvanising (additional cost) to fight against corrosion; which u will be able to detect a "lumpy" sort of texture (coarse grains) on the gate.

And their gates come with 10 yrs warranty.
