I'm intending the remove the marble flooring of my condo as there were some cracks therefore considering to replace it with either homogenous tile or back to marble again. Wondering could anyone share with me some price info of the above 2, the replacement will be for my living and dining area about 400 sqft. Cheers !!!
Miss_YB 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2011 Hi there. Hope my advice is not too late. From an Architect's point of view, replacement is not a good decision although you have the budget for it. Cracks in marbles are inevitable depending on quality they used. I suggest you just replace or patch up the cracks. Marble installers should know what to do. After replacing, they will need to polish it. It will cause you some inconvenience if you are staying in the house already. Marble maintenance is high compared to homogenous tiles. I maintained my marble floor (previous house) for 10yrs and my buyer is very happy. Since you already paid for it, just let it be. Few tips to care for it : I always use "Bluebell" or any marble cleaner solution. Only then you can maintain its shine & colour. Never use water only when mopping it. Avoid dripping water into it. If it does, wipe it soon enough coz marble are porous. Hi...
