Agent Red Packet, To Give Or Not ?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Now I know that there is no obligation to give the Agent a red packet but the question is would you and if so under what situation.

Our agent has hinted a number of times but then we have also used the suggestion of a red packet to further push him for better price.

Views ?

he gets his commission right...? i would say its not the norm to give red packet.

actually agent's commission is quite good and they should be the one buying u a gift for house warming instead. :)

:D , yeah, sort of thinking the same.

Yep he gets his commission (75% of it anyway).

He is also charging the full 2% for the sale (heard some agents drop to 1.5% or 1%).

On the other side, the sale went for a much higher than expected price... as in 40K more than expected (based on other units for sale in the same block or close area).

Saying that we really do not have much cash spare after the reno on the new place and he did get the extra from the sale in the commission.

Angpow is based on "goodwill" basis only. Meaning give only when seller feels "shoiok" of the service that agent provides.

Able to sell at "higher" price is agent's capability, same time agents also receives higher commission, right? Be wary of agent's manipulatione among buyers & therefore cause unecessary tensions (during resale process you will then know buyer's cooperation is important too), just to achieve "higher price".

Actually agent earns your commission. Also earn a bit from the bank and the lawyer if you chose to use these services recommended by the agent. So personally I feel there's no need to give another ang pao to the agent unless you feel that he has given you exceptional service that is over and above what he is suppose to provide.

Agent earn at least 1k from bank and another 400 from lawyer if you use the bank and lawyer they recommend. So no need to give angpow. Earn so much still ask for angpow.
