Hi LMX,

i attended a few lessons because i was curious to see what is this highly proclaimed time space divination but was hugely disappointed it is just another MHYS and not forgetting about his expensive pricing. I have learnt MHYS before that and find it is better.

so where are you practising? do you have a shop? maybe i will drop by for a visit one of these days. where did you pick up your mhys from?

Few lessons, you mean? To my knowledge there is no offering from Unified Yi Jing Research that last few lessons (I assume something like 2 or 3) and they don't even allow free sit in. I believe you must have attended the 3 lessons of free divination class that teaches the basic? If you do, you may want to try out the complete course, I have never regret from mine given that I had acquired other disciplines. MHYS is a Xiang (象) Shu(数) discipline, Teacher Youyi teaches Xiang Shu. Methodologically, they may look the same but my 10 years of continuous study had plant the "Way of Thinking" is more important than that a specific Method. I was grateful to Teacher Youyi as he teaches just that. The biggest benefit I had from the course is now no longer I am just a MHYS or Liu Yao or Qi Men guy, I have learned how to "blend in" regardless of method and practice spontaneity. Although I must admit the course fee A R E N O T C H E A P ! (sweat... sweat...)

I am not a full time practitioner only "freelancing" whenever I am free. I have my own businesses to take care full time. My MHYS was from Master Zhou from Guang Dong who said to be a lineage of Master Shen Bo Chun. I acquire my Liu Yao from Taiwan and Qi Men from Master Liu from China. After all the long winding courses of learning, Yi Jing is it.

Anyway, it is not his skills in MHYS that i question but I have reservation about his way of doing business. I have a few friends who did the full course with him and through them I have quite some insight into his skills, teaching and way of business.

But anyway, like i said earlier, I do agree he has some talents in MHYS but merely cautions against read being drawn by flashy advertising taglines by not calling a spade a spade. But even as you correctly pointed out, it is the way of thinking that is important and the fact is that only a % of that can be taught so a lot more depends on the learner.

I guess I know where you are hitting and I am in business too. So long students benefited how they choose to package is their way of business. So far, I have no problem with it.

Ok... As a matter of fact I been through the course physically, if you have friends with Unified Yijing Research you might want to find out from your friends why it is titled "Time Space". I not sure now but during my days in so called the "level 2" content, unlike MHYS, we were taught to divine without casting any form of Gua but by just "look see look see" and the integration with Feng Shui, which is something really cool and mind blowing. I was fortunate that Teacher Youyi impart with Gua and Qi Men Gua integration. I guess because it is not just a spade that they choose not to adopt spade as the name, you friend should know.

But even as you correctly pointed out, it is the way of thinking that is important and the fact is that only a % of that can be taught so a lot more depends on the learner.

Recently there was a lot of public concern about the doomsday theory surrounding the Mayan calendar. There is speculation that devastating global disaster will occur about the date of winter solstice on 21/12/2012. This theory is publicized in the Hollywood movie 2012 and caused more alarms. In this movie John Cusack met a man in the Yellow Stone Park and this man claimed such doomsday prediction was found in the Bible, in the Mayan calendar, and in the I Ching.

The relationship between the I Ching and 2012 is publicized in a book called The Invisible Landscape: Mind, Hallucinogens and the I Ching and is written by Terence McKenna who died in 2000. In his book he was inspired by the 64 hexagram arrangements in King Wen’s I Ching (Book of Change). In the I Ching King Wen has a special sequence in arranging the order of the 64 Hexagrams; putting them in the order with Heaven (The Creative) and Earth (the Receptive) as first and second Hexagrams. After going through the 64 Hexagrams which are arranged in 32 pairs it ends with the final pairs of Water on Fire (After Completion) and Fire on Water (Before Completion). This sequence is taken to represent different stages of development of the world from the beginning with Heaven and Earth to the end with Fire on Water.

Inspired by this sequence McKenna assigned mathematical value to each of the 384 lines (jao) of the 64 Hexagrams and he came up with a curve which he claimed reflected the timing of important world events. Every peak and bottom point of the curve seems to coincide with an important stage in human civilization and he called this a Time Wave Theory.

Indeed it seems that if we translate the 384 lines of King Wen’s 64 Hexagrams into time, according to this theory, we will find the time interval between big events on earth. His most significant point is that if we put the end date of the curve at 21/12/2012 then all the peak and bottom points of his curve match with significant events in human history. Hence he considers the date 21/12/2012 to be the ending day when the curve reaches the bottom.

As such the I Ching itself actually did not predict the world will end in 2012. At best one can only say it provided inspiration for McKenna to invent his Time Wave Theory. The original meaning of the last two Hexagrams; After Completion and Before Completion; do not imply the end of the world. To the contrary it implies there is no ending, as the change is not yet completed. It is like many cyclical changes in nature as when one year’s four seasons finishes, another new years four seasons begins. So therefore this theory is inaccurate and it is certainly not fair to say that the 2012 doomsday is predicted in the I Ching.

Is there anything in the I Ching that can be associated with such end of the world ideas? I think the most relevant could be the ‘Supreme World Order Principles’ invented by Shao Yong of the Sung Dynasty. Shao Yong also divided World Ages into 64 stages according to the King Wen sequence of 64 Hexagrams, but the number of years he assigned to each stage is very long. According to his system our current time is only in the 8th Hexagram, Water on Earth (Holding Together), which altogether lasts 129,600 years. Currently we are only in middle of this stage, with another 60,000 years before we finish this 8th Hexagram of Human civilization.

So 2012 is definitely not even near the end of the world. However the winter solstice date of 21/12/2012 is a day with a strong presence of powerful water elements.

The combination of elements on this day shows powerful water as well as Dragon and Dog clash and it will not be surprising if earthquake and flooding occur. However there is absolutely no indication that this day will be the end of the world.

In 2012 the Feng shui flying star number 6 is in the centre and symbolizes the metal element which relates to the breathing organ, the father, heaven and the law. This centre number also often reflects the focus of prevailing events for the year, so it will not be surprising if the 6 in the centre brings about more epidemics in 2012 such as flu and viruses affecting the brain and breathing organs. 6 also relates to the law, the government and the father figure. It is a year of elections and as such will certainly bring about changes in many governments throughout the world.

Understanding Sha Chi(煞气）

(abstract from Master Pang's blog) Happy reading...

Sha chi is the villain of feng shui because it can literally stop the nourishing flow of chi energy to the various elements that reside in your home, including you. Negative chi disrupts and destroys this natural cycle of energy. While yin (sha chi) and yang (sheng chi) are part of the energy known as chi, they must remain balanced. Too much of either disrupts the element cycle and can create an upset in your home and your life. Negative chi can be natural or manmade. It is such a powerful energy that it can suck up the positive energy, like the air is sucked out of a vacuum.

Natural Negative Chi

There are some places in the world that are harbingers of sha chi. Negative energy has somehow been trapped either on the surface or below the surface of the location. This type of energy is very difficult to negate or overcome unless you can effectively identify what is causing it. Sometimes, it could be as simple as radiation trapped inside rocks like granite or an underground natural cavern that creates a pocket of stagnant chi. A natural or manmade event that resulted in a catastrophic outcome where people suffered or even died can create negative chi. Sometimes, the only remedy for such an area is to relocate.

Manmade Negative Chi

Many manmade things cause sha chi. Clutter is the biggest culprit. Clutter blocks the flow of chi throughout your home and when chi can't flow naturally, it becomes stagnant. It's like damning up a river and preventing it from flowing down a mountainside. The solution is to get rid of the clutter. That means being merciless when it comes to getting rid of things that you don't use and don't need. Don't just box them up to store in the attic or garage. While they may be out of sight or contained in what appears to be a compact and organized fashion, the problem is still there, you've only changed the shape and location.

Poison Arrows Inside Your Home

A classic example of sha chi is what's known as a poison arrow. A great visual of a poison arrow is a wall that juts out into a room and creates a harsh sharp corner that is directly across from where you always sit. A poison arrow would also be created if the corner of large piece of furniture in your office is directly across from where you sit. The sharp edge and angle creates what's known a poison arrow because it is focusing the energy into a point that is beamed straight at you.

The remedy for interior poison arrows is to suspend a multi-faceted crystal a foot or so in front of the object. If the sha chi is created by a column in the room, then place a large plant in front of it. The goal is to first enhance your space, but also to disrupt the poison arrow.

Outside Poison Arrows

When a poison arrow is found outside, use a bagua mirror for a cure. For example, your neighbor's home might be positioned so that the house corner creates a poison arrow in your direction. This can create discord between you and your neighbors or the negative energy emanating from their home can simply create disharmony in your home. Place a bagua mirror on the outside of your house, facing your neighbor's house to negate the negative flow of the energy. A storage building or detached garage can also create poison arrows aimed at your house.

Dead-end Roads and Cul-de-sacs

If your home is at the end of a road or an intersection where the road stops at your house, then all of the rushing energy slams into your house. This creates harmful chi but you can remedy it by hanging a bagua mirror and by creating a natural barrier with bermed earth, a fence, plants and even a tree or two. It helps to think of the flowing chi as though it were running water to visualize how it comes rushing down the street that dumps right into your home.

Telephone Poles or Trees

A telephone pole or tree that's situated directly in front of the main entrance into your home creates a poison arrow. This could be right at the street or sidewalk area. The telephone pole creates a sharp angle or a direct blockage in front of your home. A bagua mirror remedies this kind of poison arrow. The goal is to reflect the obstacle away from your home.

Other Things that Create Negative Chi

Quite a few other things can create negative chi that are often overlooked. Each has a remedy or cure or at the very least, a way you can lessen the effect and attract more auspicious energy, sheng chi. The best way to assess possible negative chi elements is to stand outside your home and objectively look at what surrounds your home.

Negative chi elements include:

• Bridges overhead or beside home

• Cemeteries across the street or visible from your home

• Dilapidated or abandoned buildings nearby

• Power or telephone lines crisscrossing through your property

• Rivers run directly toward your front door or back door

• Surrounded by tall buildings

Remedies and Cures

Most of the remedies for sha chi negate the effect. You can also introduce other elements that will interfere with or neutralize overwhelming negative elements. For example, if you have too much water flowing towards your home, try using the fire element to weaken it such as with a fire pit and grilling area. Take time to carefully consider what might be creating the negative chi and find a good solution to remedy it.

I don't understand your statement. Hope you are not even a little too personal about anything. As far as I follow, Unified Yi Jing Research is doing great and I praise them for their good work. I have to agree their fee is not cheap, at the same time I am glad they are not cheap. If they are not your cup of tea then leave it.

Having deep passion in this subject, I read widely. Most famous masters do not need me to mention their names, you know who they are.

As for Master Pang, this is the first time that he writes article in English, and unless you are on Facebook, I guess you may not heard of his name. Hence, being my acquaintance in FB, I recommend reading up his articles (disclaimer: I am not advocating his methods of cures, but his classical texts on chinese metaphysics only).
